If there is strength in numbers, then the Indians have the stronger army. If it based on training, weaponry and allies, then I would say the Pakistanis have the better army. Since both have had animosity toward each other for generations now, I believe that a war between each is a "last man standing" situation. Therefore, I think the Indians win in the end. They have a billion people to send into and support a war. Also, since India is a peninsula, there are only a few land routes to invade the country. There are many land routes to invading Pakistan.

I would say India, but both have admirable military capacities. Missle capabilities are about equal. India has the advantage in troop strength and airpower through. Both are fairly battle hardened. Pakistan has good ground capabilities and some really skilled special ops units.
The main reason why I gave India the edge is that Pakistan's military has doubtful loyalties and may not fight depending on who the enemy is. Against india you'll likely see foundamentalist elements leading the push to escalate the conflict.

I believe India has a larger and more organized army. Pakistan seems to have internal troubles in there army as well as border trou ble where troops have to be used . Pakistan has too much trouble around it's borders to strengthen from within.

Strength are oftentimes measured on the number of people and their fighting power. India may have the advantage but they are not as blind as the other whose strength is driven by their ruthlessness and total disregards to human lives who does not belong to their belief.
Even if in the Bhagavad Ghita, the Prince was once told by His God not worry about the enemies who happened to be the Prince's relatives because in God's eyes they were already dead, Hindis are still weakened by human emotions and attachments to morals.

I think the Indian army is possibly better equipped, and usually come out ahead on the border skirmishes. Either way, with the number of troops both countries have,I wouldn't like to get between them

I have no clue whose army is stronger- that can be based on tactics and intelligence, which are hard to quantify. That being said- too much money is wasted on the military and not enough money is spent on educating children- and this goes for all of the countries of the world.

presumably India's, but that is a guess based upon population, wealth, and that Pakistan cannot control its other borders.

I would guess India, because they have the second largest population. They are also a nuclear power.
