Clubs??? I'm not sure about that, but classes are good! That's exactly what you should do. You should also get involved in theatre, student films, anything to stay active and keep your acting muscles going :-)

If you want to find a legitimate agent to represent you for commercials, TV & film go to Sag.org. Use the dropdown menu on the right labeled 'resources' and choose 'agent information'. On the next screen, on the left choose 'Find a SAG franchised agent' and follow the directions. You can look up agents all over the US, but there are higher concentrations where the work is (Los Angeles, NY, IL, FL, GA etc.)

Then you can send them your headshot, resume, and a cover letter stating that you are seeking representation and wait to see if they call you in for an interview.

Once you have an agent, they will get you the auditions, but until then you can check out actorsaccess.com. You can also see if your state has a film alliance. Sometimes they post audition information for projects filming locally. For theatre, you can go to backstage.com or http://www.actorsequity.org/castingcall/... If you find the audition on the Equity site, you still may be able to go, as long as their not taking appointments from equity actor's only :-) On backstage.com you have to pay to get all of the info, but the initial search is free and you may be able to see enough info to find out the rest on your own without paying. Just search for the theatre's own website.

Good luck!

Well, how long have you been trying? Anyone associated with the industry will tell you that most professional actors live at or below national poverty levels. The unemployment rate for most actors is 95%. Film actors in particular are in this catagory. Television affords some semblance of a regular job but is tied to the whims of ratings.

The reality of the matter is that if your want to be an actor and do nothing else (like a day job), you're going to have to learn to love the hustle and hassle of finding that next film, or commercial, or print ad, or pilot, or guest star appearance, or , or , or. You will have to learn marketing of yourself and just who your target audience might be. You need to learn the business part of show business and realize that you will be spending much more time and money on that than you will in front of a camera.

Do you have headshots and resumes? Postcards and business cards printed with your picture on them? Have you allowed for the expense of postage and the cost of envelopes to send out your headshots to 70, 80, 200 casting directors? Have you produced a demo reel or a slate reel? Until you can answer yes to all of these questions, you're not ready to even start. Sorry if that sound so negative, but so many people think that wandering into an agents office and saying, "Here I am!", is going to land them on the next hit TV series or the soon to open Oscar contender movie. It just doesn't work like that. Some actors will work for years before becoming eligable for their SAG card. Then work another decade or more before breaking through and becoming that over-night success. It takes hard work, attention to detail, sacrifice of what most normal people will call a life. It can cost you your spouse, your children, your friends and every dime you can earn, beg and pawn. It takes an enormous amount of being in the right place at the right time and the ability to capitalize on slim opportunity. If you can do anything else and be happy, do that instead. To paraphrase Anthony Newly, you face the thousand-eyed monster and it's waiting to be fed.

Everyone has to wait, you won't et your big break after your first audition. Try being an extra or something then work your way up. In the acting bussiness you have to be ready for rejection and accept that it is not personnal and they will reject everyone but for one person. If you wan to get an agent in the US try:
agentsassociation.com
or for open auditions try:
auditions.com
backstage.com
and in the uk try
starsinmyeyes.tv
starnow.co.uk

It doesn't just happen over night. It happens over hard work that takes years. An actor's life is one of rejection, not trying to be mean but learn how to cope.

You need something original about yourself, that the judges will remember.

-Don't be slutty
-don't over-do anything
-be very laid back

maybe you could put in purple contacts or something, while the rest of your outfit would be just jeans and a t-shirt.

Anything original will catch eyes, but just MAKE SURE that it's not outrageous or trampy.

Good Luck!!!
