The sentence was not fair! Winkler is being held 1 hour from me in McMinnville, TN. Her husband was a sex freak, requested lewd acts of his wife, and forced her to roleplay. However, this is not grounds for homicide.
Latest news on this woman: Two days ago she requested custody back of her 3 children. They are currently in the custody of her inlaws.
Winkler's defense attorneys used the "battered, traumatized wife" arguement in court and it worked for her.

RE:
Do you think Mary Winkler's sentence is fair?
Preacher's wife Mary Winkler, who killed her husband with a shotgun blast to the back as he lay in bed, is sentenced to three years -- 210 days in prison and the rest on probation.

It's outrageous and appalling. If a man had shot his wife in the back while she slept would he have gotten "voluntary manslaughter" and a brief prison sentence? If Winkler was a working class minority woman would she have gotten a slap on the wrist? Are the judge, jury and prosecutor ready to take responsibility if Winkler decides to blow someone else away that she doesn't like? Winkler put Meryl Streep to shame with her crying, mousy, abused wife performance.

No it's not fair. She will only do a year and a half of that. She should have gotten life. She planned this, and waited until he was asleep and then shot him in the back because he requested lewd sex acts from her and he would nag her about her practice of writing bad checks and overextending credit limits on cards and then she fled to the Gulf Coast in Alabama. She claimed traumatic stress syndrome. Unbelievable. And people are like vultures against Paris Hilton. This country is going down the drain.

Yes it is fair, she should of gotten no time! Her children should be given back without having to fight for them in court. They were stolen and now one of them will always be estranged from her mother. Its about time a JUDGE HAD THE GUTS to stand for women's rights, which means you are a human being and as such you have the right to be a married person ,who is NOT abused in any way.For this man to be a "preacher" and call himself a man of God makes it even worse, because NO WHERE in the BIBLE does it give him the right to treat his wife in that manner. Those people knew what kind of son they had raised and had no symphony for her as the victim or as a human being. This case was sad from the beginning at first she never even had a name it was always 'THE PREACHER'S WIFE" like he was more special than her.All life is precious but in this case one more deviant cannot harm anyone else. That's justice.
