I Asked:

I just started dating this girl. She told me she is a very private person, and it takes a while to open up. She told me to try, and if anything I ask takes her to an uncomfortable place she would let me know that she did not want to talk about it.

The Answer I Got:

Give her some time to learn to trust you. Some people have emotional baggage that they may be having trouble getting rid of, and they'll talk about it when they are ready. Don't force the issue.

My Question:

What are some good conversation starters so I won't cross the line or make her feel uncomfortable?

try to find something that make her talk. if you talk about the weather ask her why she likes the winter and let her talk. so in that way she is going to realize you are a good listener and she will feel comfy with you. just make everything slow
good luck

movies, music, school, work, the usual. try politics if you want to bump it up a notch, but be careful because she might not have the same views and it could get an arguement going.

The point is not to make her feel uncomfortable, but to make her feel comfortable enough to answer.

Your question has nothing to do with marriage & divorce.
