The problem is I dont have any rocovery cds. I am willing to buy cds separately if needed.

Just tell me how to clean everything (from A to Z) and what cd to use after the clean up to install the operating system.

Thank a lot !!! I really need help with this one lol :-)

Ba the way... Can i install Vista or Windows XP instead of Windows Media Center?

First let's correct one problem of yours. Windows Media Center is properly Windows XP Media Center Edition, as it is a type of XP. What you need to do is purchase your OS (yes you can install regular XP Home/Pro or Vista, but go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/editions/systemrequirements.mspx to ensure your computer is compatible with Vista if you choose it) then insert the disk (Disk 1). When you are asked, select NEW INSTALLATION or the similar option. DO NOT SELECT UPGRADE. Follow the steps through installation. When you are done, you will have none of the old files left.

The Recovery disks may be on the hard drive. If so, read the User Manual (at www.sony.com) to find out how to burn the Recovery disks.

If not, ask the seller for them. NEVER buy a PC without the manufacturer's supplied disks and Manuals.

Last resort, buy XP from Sony ONLY. Do not use NON-Sony XP disks.

Windows MCE is XP.

Vista? Not worth the effort.

If you have Windowows XP disk, just pop it into your DVD drive, and install/upgrade it over the current OS. Then you just delete all the folders that you don't want from windows explorer.

Contact Sony, ask if they can supply (at cost) a new recovery CD and windows licence if the sticker for existing one not there
