Did you have an actual question, or were you just posting so you could see your name up on the computer screen?

What exactly was your question? I dont see a question here at all, just an ignorant statement.

There is nothing stupid about the MLB draft. Prospects get drafted and go through the minor leagues. Yes, some of them take 3 of 4 years to work out, but so what? If you draft a kid out of High School at 18 and he comes into the league at 21, he has long carreer ahead of him.

College pitchers will usually be available in a year or two. HS players take longer, but if you were older, you'd remember Dwight Gooden being the best pitcher in the NL at age 19. Hitters have to learn how to hit major league pitching, and that may take 3 or 4 years, which is why they tend to get drafted at earlier ages.

At any rate, if the draft didn't exist, the Yankees would just sign all the good players. This is the reason the draft was started years ago.

Ya...do you even like baseball? The minor leagues are what make baseball so exciting. Sure most of the prospects drafted will not be ready for 3-4 years, but the majority of players in the majors took that long to develop! Not to mention a lot of these guys will be the key to your team landing a perennial all star at the trade deadline.

That is not true. The Detroit Tigers drafted Curtis Granderson and Andrew Miller within the last couple of years. Right when that happened, everyone was looking forward to seeing the young prospects play. Curtis immedietly made stirred some attention. Miller was doing great in the minors and was brought up to the big league club and did pretty good. So I can't agree that people think it doesn't matter.

That's not a question. In the NFL and NBA, players go directly to the teams. In MLB, players go to the minor leagues. Some become great and some never live up to potential. Players have to be drafted. What do you expect teams to do?

So? Cant you wait that long?

Look at Morneau and Mauer, last years MVP and Batting Champ. Yet, there still pretty young.

If there wasn't a Baseball Draft, then Baseball would end when everyone dies of age!
