I am a new fish owner and didn't realize she was pregnant, just thought she was fat! After doing some research I realized she was in fact pregnant. I moved her into a large crystal bowl this morning using water out of the 100 gallon tank. She had her babies shortly afterwards. I'm going to buy a smaller tank this evening. How do I treat the water in the new tank to allow her and the babies to go in right away? I would appreciate any feedback, thanks! =)

You don't need too small of a tank, remember, they are small now buy will grow quickly. I wouldn't sugegst you get anything smaller than a 10 gallon and a 20 would be far better. A heater, sponge filter with air pump and a hood is all you will need in the way of extras.

To treat the water, use dechlorinator and water of about the same temperature as the bowl. While you are shopping for your new tank, get 3-4 fish bags from the shop and use those to bag up the fry and then float them in the new tank just as you would when you get new fish.

As they grow, they babies will need plenty of food. I feed young fish 3-4 times a day. Obviously this will make a lot of leftovers. Thosse need to be removed from the tank daily along with about 25% of the water, replaced with fresh water of course.

Feed them finely crushed flake food as a staple and add in meals of brine shrimp and daphnia. As the grow you can move to adult brine shrimp and bloodworms and leave the flake food in larger and larger pieces.

If I can help further feel free to email me

Well I would use the water out of the small crystal bowl and some of the water from the 100 gallon fish tank since it is already treated and they are already used to it. I would do some searches in about how to raise baby Mollies. I do know that some breeds of fish you have to separate because the other fish will eat them while others are very protective and don't have a problem. But to which ones I don't know. I am am so sorry that I can't help on the one but using the same water I am pretty sure would be okay.

Since its going to be small 2-10 gallon i assume. i would just take the amount of water you need to fill the tank out of the 100 gallon, let it settle and then test the water, If it is ok then add the fish, But them in a tub or bag and poor the water in every 10 mins like you would with new fish.

A 10-20 gallon tank will do fine for the fry.
