My 20 pound shnauzer got a hold of the lanolin nursing nipple cream and ate it. He chewed the plastic, without digesting much of it and ate out the lanolin oil. It says non-toxic, and my dog seems okay. I was more worried about the amount he consumed- about 4 oz.

it's a natural product. I wouldn't be surprised if your dog had diarrea or vomited because of it. Just keep an eye on him. It's a lubricant, so it will probably hasten his digestive process (if you know what I mean!)

The short answer is "Call a vet if your not sure"- that being said-
Lanolin is made from sheep I'm pretty sure- so I think he'll be fine. All that oil will probably give him the runs, though. Just watch him, give him plenty of water, and call a vet right away if he seems listless or lacks appetite.

As long as it was pure lanolin the worst that is going to happen is some diarrhea.

Lanolin is the oil commonly found on sheep wool. It's natural and digestible.

lanolin is a natural substance that is secreted from the skin of sheep. the over the counter stuff is basically just a thickened skin oil. other that perhaps a tummy ache and some greasy poo, your dog should be fine.
