I just started dating a girl and I would like to impress her with my sense of style. I'm taking her into Chicago all day Saturday. I'll be wearing a brown and white shirt, khaki shorts and brown leather sneakers. White socks just don't look right. But you can't wear khaki or brown dress socks with sneakers. What is the correct choice?

if you're wearing khaki shorts i think you should wear heel socks. it never looks good (at least to me) when guys wear shorts with socks taller than their shoes. it just reminds me of how boys dressed in elementary school and trust me you don't want her to be thinking about that on your date ;) Best of luck!

This question is pretty easy. You should wear white socks. Take it from me I am a girl and I would love a guy that would wear the right color with a brown leather boots If you don't wear the right colors she may not stay with you for your lack of style.

I'd say it depends on how dark the sneakers are--try to find socks that are a similar color or a few shades lighter & thicker cotton ones rather than dress socks. I have some thicker cotton socks from REI that are light tan with darker brown edging that go well with all my brown shoes.

I'm with those who say no socks or ankle socks. Ankle socks would be the preference if you're going to be walking around all day.

I would wear white ankle socks, I know it's not the best advice ever but it should work. Act casual, and don't worry so much! Good luck on your date!

General rule of thumb: socks should be one shade darker than the pants you're wearing.

no socks or get some socks (peds?drawing a blank on the name) that just barely cover your heels, so you don't get blisters(maybe put a band-aid or two in your wallet).
Actually Sandals would be sexier.
