generally not worth it. needs new mot , v.i.c. check. repairing. plus you gotta buy it off the insurer. see what they offer you with or without car back and see if there is enough margin to repair it.plus the thieving b*st*rds will have thrashed it to within an inch of its life so you will have other issues like clutch, tyres etc all failing in the future. unfortunatly you dont state make, model or year, condition or mileage , all these are contributing factors. to sum up .insurance companies have their repairers by the goolies and get their cars repaired for next to nothing , if it was worth it they would not pay out.TOP TIP get an auto trader etc and find as many adds for similar cars at TOP MONEY and bombard you insurer with them to get a better settlement figure,or they will rip you off with "book price", trust me , on average many claims are settled within the original ins premium!dont settle for anything less than what you are happy with, they will try it on but dont give in they are legally obliged to provide the service YOU pay for. they will eventually agree to your demands cos they cant be bothered. good luck

If the money cost to repair is three fourth's of the value, take the money and run. Here in the US, a few years ago, I have a friend, his father had a 1993 Chevy Caprice station wagon and it got stolen Christmas 2004. The car was recovered and at the time the car was valued around $4000.00 US dollars and that was the cost of damage to repair. Even though the car ran OK, there was no telling if any problems were to show up insurance companies do not like to sink money into an old car with 100,000+ miles. Of course he took the money and ran (just an expression).

You saying that the brakes are "seized" or sized? If the brakes are seized, brakes aren't that expensive of a job if the car is worth allot of money. Locks and repair may be worth it. Depends whether the car is a Bentley or a Ford Pinto.

Depends what is wrong with them, and how much the car is worth. If you are capable of doing the work yourself it may well be worth buying it back , but as soon as you start payinmg out you could end up losing out.
