Well the 2007 model year would be your answer. These are the most modern and state of the art auto's on the road. No knock on the Muscle Car era, but Modern cars can produce that kind of horsepower easily today. It amazes me that 265 HP comes in a V6 minivan these days that was unheard of back in the 70's for standard cars. Take the 426 Hemi stock with 425HP which really works out to 317 at the wheels. A modern V6 normally aspirated produces 305HP which is about 290 at the rear wheels. Muscle Cars also did not handle very well and some offered horrid brakes.

Performance: 426 Hemi V8 425: 0-60 in 6.4 sec, 1/4 mile in 14.16 sec @ 96.15mph. (some Hemi's are faster, I know)

Performance: Nissan VQ-series 3.5-liter V-6: 0-60 in 5.5 sec, 1/4 mile in 14.1 sec @ 101mph.

Hmmmmmmmmmm...My Dad would have said 1934, with the four hole Buick, his dad would have said 1916, and the Packard Twin 6...Me? There is nothing like the 1968 model year. I would like one of each, Corvette, Camaro, Dart, Mustang, Barracuda...the list goes on...908 Long Tail works Porsche, Jacky Ickx in the 312 Ferrari...even the frikkin Rambler was fast in 1968 (Trans Am seriers AMX).

It's questions like this that make me go out and buy lottery tickets.

I would have to say 1965-66 the birth of the muscle cars.

I'd say 1972. Cars were huge, engines big, plenty of lead in the gasoline and the Big Three were totall unprepared for the gas crisis.

I'd say 1967 all the old muscle cars, lasted longer, looked good, built of steel, easy to work on, and sharp to look at.
