My boyfriend is due to be released soon on tag. But the prison he is in is 4 hours away. What happens on their day of release? Do they bring him here? Because one probation officer said that I have to stay at home that day....because they will be fitting his tag when he gets here???

He'll be given a travel warrant to get him home via public transport.
Make sure that he doesn't make any detours (e.g to the pub) on the way home, if he doesn't have the tag fitted when the firm show up then he could find himself behind bars very quickly.

He will get a travel pass for either train or coach, which is normal practice. As for them coming to fit the tag, they leave that till they know he's home usually late tea time to early evening.

When he gets out of jail he goes and waits at home that's when they fix the tag on his leg and fix the box to the phone
