I have a 1993 ES 300 Lexus, I got this car from the auction and it has a bad miss fire. I took the car to a shop to get a scan on it and they told me that I need to change the knock sensor for the car to stop shaking. I changed that at a different shop. The car is still shaking like a mini bike. So I took the car to the Lexus dealer and they said, clean the EGR valve and change the Modulator, and oxygen sensor. I did that and its still shaking.
I changed the spark plugs, wires, cap, roder, still shakes. Is the motor gone or what? It has 140miles on it. I went to a salvage yard and they said they have a motor for that car for 600. should I just get it? I live in Los Angeles if anyone have a shop i can go to let me no the number please.

I would take it to the dealer and have them fix it properly. It may cost a little more but they should have the training and experience of Lexus.

The vibration could be so many different things, and if it doesn't have a sensor a scan wont help. Like it could be a valve or piston is damaged.

Don't ask them to fix it, just get them to diagnose and advise you of the cost before proceeding, then you will have still have the option to get the engine from the salvage yard or whatever.

Have you checked the motor mounts yet? On of them could be worn out or even broken. I had a similar problem in my old chevy, and it was just a worn out motor mount, which allowed the engine to shake more than normal which in turn made the entire car shake like crazy. I hope this helps good luck!

With the engine running remove ONE sparkplug wire from the distributor.
If the engine runs worse, or dies, plug it back in. (it's OK)

(repeat)

Remove the next one. If there is no change in the engine, that's the one that needs attention. Have a compression test done on that cylinder.

Maybe two of the spark plug wires got crossed??
Maybe you have a vacuum leak at the intake manifold. (hose came off?)
Maybe you have a bad injector?

So far, it appear that you're doing the work based on suggestions from others, who in that capacity, have nothing to lose, and maybe only $$ to gain from selling you new parts.

I suggest that an experienced mechanic should be able to diagnose this, if it's as bad as you say.
