That only a five year old would block users that disagree with them? I mean, what is the point of only letting people through who agree with you? Why even come on here if you don't want to hear opposing viewpoints. I could just talk to myself.

John K...I agree...I have lost my temper on here a few times, but try to keep it civil.

I only block those that disrespect Women, on this site. I feel that they are getting their ego's off at others expense. This is called, "Yahoo Answers". Not "Yahoo Insults". That is what so many, have made these Sites.

EDIT* When someone responds to a question. By claiming that he's "passing a joint to (questioner's) wife"?. Those are the kind of people that should be Blocked from ever being on this site.

I agree with you.....

But then, only a person who is a five year-old would give you a thumbs down when the answer to the question is FACT, not an opinion!

Would report you just because you disagree with them.

I won't be sad to see neocons go since they act, think and write like a five year old!

Personally, I want to hear what the other side has to say though I disagree with them 95% of the time!

I absolutely agree with you. I love hearing the diversity of opinions other users give. But I also agree there are a few out there who are not using any common sense or respect for anyone. Last night was a prime example. I would not have wanted anyone under 18 to see the content of a couple of the answers. I agree with Earnest some of these border on criminal intent.

I totally agree Steve.

I've disagreed with you many times as well as you have with me on my questions. That is what most of this is about on here. Hearing not only like minds but also the differing view points. It's just healthy debate and sometimes fun picking on each other.

The ones I will block though are those that have literally "followed" me around, and consistently given me handfuls of thumbs down votes, but even worse, have reported me for some extremely benign answers. Some of my questions have been totally removed because of these dingbats.

I've blocked two notorious ones already and it has literally made a huge difference.

I agree to an extent. There are some conservative and liberal posters here with whom I do not agree on every issue but they are always civil or being funny that I welcome their input. But then there are those who are obnoxious and arrogant and who needs them? I've blocked several people who make a habit of stalking others or having accounts deleted because they don't like what someone says.

I want to see them extend it so that I don't have to see ANY questions or comments from people like RLP or Count Acumen.

Blocking an id doesn't keep them from answering your questions, it keeps them from veiwing your profile, having access to email you, and from mining your old questions when they become enraged because you have had the gall to disagree with them. If you block me, the only thing I can't get to is your network to see who you're linked to and your questions on your profile. I can still see you in the common areas.

That's what has been going on. I've been on here for over year and had maybe 2 violation notices. Then some chick got upset with my pov and mined my questions and I got 15 violation notices over night.

This also keeps folks from being able to contact you. Many of us like to hear from other users and I've had some enlightening email conversations with other users. But I've also had threats and rants, which aren't productive. I like debate and discussion and trying to understand why folks feel and believe as they do. But to just send me an email cursing me calling me names and telling me how stupid I am is not benificial to me or the sender. I've used the block feature on a couple of users who have sent me such emails in the past. I can still see their questions on the board and I can still respond to them, and vice-versa, but they can't retaliate.

It's personal discretion. Most people here don't know know the people behind the avatar anyway, they just know the personality portrayed in the answers and questions. Such an act is therefore neither childish nor mature. It's tantamount to one deciding who to be friends with or not. I disagree, because all we have to go off of here on Y!A is the rhetoric of our peers. Why would one allow another person whose rhetoric is offensive to them to casually interact with them? That isn't sensible.

Some people do that. I have been flagged but I just delete the email and move on. They don't bother me. They have no answer to come back with that makes sense so they block.

Some I have seen deserve to be blocked, however, due to foul language or downright hatred for no reason. Sometimes I answer them and sometimes I simply ignore them. It is they who look stupid to people around the world who log on to YA.

I agree with you on that, so yes. There are however some real trolls here who insult others and make them feel uncomfortable. That is uncalled for. I think that's the purpose of the blocker, though some will undoubtedly use it to block disagreers because they can't handle opposition.

First let me explain something . Right now there are at least 3 well-known idiots who attack , stalk , insult and even threaten women . Those 3 are criminal in their behavior and need what's coming to them . They have done this to many, many women . And I fully understand why a woman would feel better if those idiots can't get to her Q/A . So blocking in this case is good .

For me , I'm not planning on blocking anyone . But I will for anyone I see insulting(hint) , stalking or threatening women .
And perhaps people will now think twice before posting those kinds of responses in Y/A and in 360's .

To anyone who has been involved in these types of criminal behavior I say this . . . .. .Consider yourself lucky . Consider yourself lucky that you've been blocked from people's questions and eventually ending up in jail . And take this lucky opportunity to reflect on past behavior . If you're one of them, but made a mistake a time or two . . . . then CHANGE .
Or , perhaps you like being lonely and ostracized from decent , respectful folk .

Remember , argue and debate , but don't insult women !!!
