From the progression of failures find the short some where in your lighting circuitry. This would cause the battery to drain and the lights to fade. It would also be a short that would cripple the voltage regulator or alternator. The battery would only be a secondary failure. Get your electrical system tested.

sounds like both battery and alt went bad on you. the altornator quit, wich told the on board computer some thing was not right., this confussed the computer, so it started to set off lights to alleart the driver problems were happening.
In the mean time , the battery could not recover what was being drained from it, so the spark and other engine supports were not working and so on.

Could be part of it; but really unusual for a car to be putting out so little charge it just kills the battery and dies unless it is something in the charging system.
Have the charging system checked along with the battery.

Replace your battery if it's 5 or more years old. Otherwise have your battery and charging system tested for free at an auto parts store in their parking lot.

Sounds like something is definitely wrong with your electrical system. Could be the battery, alternator, relay, belt or something in the computer itself. It's also affecting your ignition (spark).
If you can get it started again get it checked ASAP or you will be spending money on a tow as well.

I'd check the belts. It's probably not your alternator because you wouldn't get spark to keep the engine going if it was. Your belt that powers all of your electrical accessories (lights, radio, AC, etc). The guy who said it was your catalytic converter must be on crack. That has nothing to do with your lights.

Clearly electrical, battery is involved. Might be the altenator. Check your belts. Check the battery fluids, cable tightness.
You can pull the battery and most auto parts places will test it for you. Might be that easy.

start with the battery, then move to the alternator, then check the spark plugs, check all the belts, then lastly i would suggest checking the distributor, and if it isnt any of those, take it to the nearest PEP BOYS shop, and have them check it for free......they would know best since they are the experts...hope this helps

sounds more like the alternator, then the battery.sounds like the alternator isnt keeping the battery charged,or the battery isnt taking the charge.

Might be a computer malfunction or something that blew in the emissions like your catalytic converter which could have plugged up. If it has 100,000 miles on it definitely could need a new catalytic converter.
