I think liquid cleans better and it rinses better, too, especially in cold water. Powder laundry detergent doesn't seem to dissolve well in cold water so the clothes don't rinse out well.

My favorite is the powder form of Tide with Color Safe Bleach. It seems to work the best. The best for the money so far has been Arm & Hammer Baking Soda Liquid detergent. For treating spots, I just mix it 50/50 or with a little more water than detergent and put it in a sprayer. Then spray it on the spots and rub it in with an old toothbrush. I tried the Tide with Color Safe Bleach because I'd seen a Consumer Reports thing or some other report that stated it did the best of all the 20 or 30 different detergents they'd tested.

I like liquid better because liquid detergent doesn't have to brake up in the water like powder does.

I prefer liquid, I used to use powder until I went clubbing in a black dress and if I stood near the ultraviolet light you could see white powder spots left all over it from the washing powder, this was very embarrassing until I had a few drinks then we all had a good laugh about it :)
And I do think the liquid gets clothes cleaner

See, everybody thinks that the liquid is better, but I think the powder will get items more clean. The powder will have the roughness to attack a stain. Merely an opinion though.

Powder is cheaper - to use. Compare the prices of liquid to powder by the no. of loads that can be washed on the outside of the product. Liquid is better is cold water because it doesn't have to dissolve.

I like liquid better because the powder detergent will harden like a brick and stop up your sewer line. It also leaves a power residue if if doesn't rinse well.

Liquid is better. Powder doesn't seem to dissolve all the way and sometimes will get stuck on your clothes.

Liquid...I like Era. I have 3 kids and it removes 99% of stains the first time I wash them.
