About a week ago I posted a question asking advice on baby girl names. We got a ton a great responses and my husband and I decided on a name we would love to use, but now my grandmother is begging me NOT to name her that. My mom likes it and everyone else we have asked say they like it too but she is just stuck on the fact that she thinks kids will tease her about it. Was wondering what you all thought.

Brooklyn Nichole Rennie.

Lastname pronounced Ren-Knee.

She says all she can think about when she says it is the Brooklyn Bridge, I don't understand why, it's not like we want to name her Brooklyn Bridgette Rennie. lol

Thanks!!!

that name is wonderful!
alot of kids have a name like brooklyn
its pretty common

but you should try talking to your garndma
tell her that brooklyn is common
and so is nichole

as far as the last name
thats her last name
she should be proud of it! [the baby girl]

Hi

No it does not remind me of brooklyn bridge any how. And you know what, I like Brooklym Bridgette too. And Rennie (Ren-knee) is an amazing name.

You know what? This is just a suggestion, but what do you think of Marsha Bridgette Rennie

I actually like that -- except for the "Nichole" part. Brooklyn is uncommon, but not so unusual people will have a problem pronouncing it. And I don't think people will tease her for it. It's a heck of a lot better than "Shaniqua or LaQuisha".

I've met only one Brooklyn in my life and she was the girlfriend of my best male friend in high school.

I like it, I really don't think she'll get made fun of with that, but may a little with posh spice and David I can kick the ball Becham with the same name of "Brooklyn" in honor of where she was conceived.

My mom wanted to rename my sisters 1st, and so mom's first grandchild, but my sister held firm and said 'you'll learn to love it or you'll learn to live without us" ha it took having a kid for my sister to grow a backbone :)

Your grandmother is "begging you? " I say go with what you and your husband love. I think it's sweet of you to ask their opinion but the fact is this is yours and hubbies baby. PS, I like the name, but good idea to remove the last from your posting.....there are crazies out there. Best of luck to you.

I hate brooklyn and nichole are really chavvy and what the hell were you thinking with the extra h ???????they are not very classy and your grandmother is right. Brooklyn is really going not going to age well. Ask your grandmother what she suggests she probably has much better taste than you!

I love that name....maybe after Brooklyn is born your grandmother will see that it isent a horrible name....my cousin just had a baby and they named her jersey and everyone thought they were going to hate it but now that she was born we think the name is cute...so maybe thats what will happen with your grandma.

Sounds like a perfectly nice name to me. It is your baby, regardless what anyone (grandma included) thinks you have a right to name her what you want. If you and your husband agree then name her Brooklyn. Grandma will just have to deal with it.
Congrats on the baby.

I think it's beautiful. I don't think kids can do a lot of teasing with that one - and who cares if they call her Brooklyn Bridge? It's the names that rhyme with body parts or something that you have to avoid.... I think it's a great name and you should stick with it!
