surely they have a responsibility as they are in the public eye to be an example, and should therefore be treated more harshly as they have betrayed the public's trust.

not thinking of anyone in particular here.....really !

Thanks for your example TURBO, I think any one who breaks their parole (openly flout) should get the book thrown at them, as the parolle is a warning to be on good behavior,

also I think that the defence of that they would be vulnerable in prison is riduculous, as 1 anyone is vulnerable in prison in that manner, and 2 the prisons should have good control over the inmate population (sadly in some cases this isn't true). after all this is a punishment we are talking about..

the sad thing is that no matter how short the stay in prison is it is most likely that the celeb in quesion will get a book out of the orderal, and it should be a legal point in that they should be prevented from capitalising on their imprisonment.

Was it ever proven that this man did molest her daughter? That is the missing part of the puzzle here. If he was, he deserved every bullet. About 20 years ago in FL a man asked his best friend to watch his 3 year old daughter because he needed to go get a prescription because the child had an ear infection. About 5 minutes after he left he realized he forgot his wallet and returned home to find his friend sexually molesting his daughter. He beat his friend to death with his fists. The DA didn't even bother to press charges. Leave it to you to side with the Pedophile. If he this guy did molest this 10 year old and found guilty what would his sentence have been? Probation? 6 months? A year? What were the circumstances surrounding the shooting? Did she catch him in the act? I would have shot him too. You are content to have these perverts locked up for a short time only to be released and molest another child which happens all too often in this country. I think the sentence was ridiculous. She should have walked. Edit: I came back to look at this question. Somebody provided a link to the story. Yes, the Pedophile deserved what he got and the Mother should have walked free. She is a hero in my book. I don't want to get reported on this so read my Email. What is wrong with you?

Who knows really? I mean, why pander to someone because they are famous or rich. These people don't give their money to the fawning poor do they? To me a person has to earn respect and they don't get it by being rich. If you are in the public eye you should expect scrutiny and if that fame brings fortune too then you should be doubly grateful. Personally i have no more or less respect for people who are rich or famous and before retiring as manager of a bank met many of them. They all got the same treatment off me, the same as anyone else. The truly rich, not the nouveau riche or those who made it quickly through being pop singers, actors, or sportsmen were, on the whole, genuine people. However i did meet many who thought they were somebody special because they'd been on TV. Generally they were obnoxious with a small minority who were OK.

They get the most attention in the news,
but their sentence is the same,
as everyone else. Believe it.
20 years ago, a guy set fire,
to his 5 year old son. The boy lived,
but was burnt so badly, even his mother
could not recognize him. The man did
6 years in jail, got out and terrorized the
mother and the boy. The guy was a nobody,
so maybe, not so many people will remember him.
He was later returned to jail, for killing someone else.
Another guy kidnapped, raped and beat, half to death,
a 13 year old girl. Chopped off her arms, at the elbow and threw her in a ditch and left her for dead. He did 6 years,
was released, and ended up, doing it to another woman.
He was another nobody, named Singletary.
Our justice system just basically sucks. It's not the celebrities that get off all the time. If you are sentenced to 12 years, you automatically do just 6. Then they give you 1/2 off, for good behavior and more time off, for each day you work. So you end up doing about 1year, maybe 1 1/2, depending on how long it takes, to do all your paper work. It is no wonder, that there are so many criminals on our streets. The death penalty means nothing anymore. Neither does giving them life .

Because if they didn't, the sales of magazines like Heat would fall through the floor because all the "celebs" would be in jail, there would be nobody to "report" on, and the economy, propped up on the back of these mags, would slide into recession.

This would then lead to civil unrest and revolution.

It would be a terrible, terrible thing.

Which is why celebs never do any serious jail time - to save us from certain disaster.

God bless them all.

p.s. Ginny Wanderer - you clearly fail to realise that the point being made is not that celebs are treated harsher than "normal" people, but that they appear to be treated more leniently.

p.p.s. Ha Ha! Looks like Paris "Clink-Clink" Hilton may have got her comeuppance after all!!!

Is not celebrities, all the rich people in this so called democracy are able to do almost what they please and just walk away while a poor guy shoplifting food in Tesco can finish 2 years in jail for 5 bananas.

When people is famous we just know the details, like when Pete Doherty broke his parole for 5th time in a month and was found with heroin, cocaine, crack cocaine, extasis and Marihuana in Kensington High street and in the court the woman judge left him to go and gave him even a compliment about his "new song"...

If would be you or me our life would be literally finish and 5 to 9 years in prision... Take that...

Sad to say but celebrities do get somewhat of a more lenient treatment. They should get the same treatment as everybody else in the eyes of the law. Not less, not more. Equal.

because they have a huge following and are influential

If you were badly treated in prison who will listen to you?

If a celeb is then the whole wrold knows

If you are a celeb, a professional person or someone with influence then you get the kid glove treatment

Not saying it's right just saying that's life

I dont think celebs should be treated more harshly.

Everybody should face equal treatment under the eyes of law and justice.
