This is in the wrong section and I recommend you redirect yourself to the Pets: Cats section for more information.

However, I will tell you that carnivores have shorter digestive tracts (especially youngins like kittens) and it doesn't take as long for them to "process" food. For example, I have 3 ferrets (which, btw, are obligate carnivores) and they need to eliminate every 2-3 hours.

Feed your kittens a quality food. Feeding it that grocery store stuff like Friskies or store brand is the equivalent of living off of McDonald's. I'd recommend Innova Evo, Wellness Core, or Eukaneuba.

Not all cat food is the same and learned this even more by doing research.

I switched my cat to Blue Buffalo brand because of the superior ingredients, the first ingredient, the most prevalent, in this brand, is actual debonned chicken and nowhere are there chicken by-products.

My cat developed a beautiful coat of hair when I switched her from another brand. She is always in good spirits and healthy, thank heaven.

Food quality is critical to sustain a cat over the years. It also cuts down the chance of disease later on and hopefully avoiding having to euthanize a suffering pet.

As you know, they dont get to go out to eat a variety of food, so the nuggets they eat forever are more critical to sustaining their lives. Your kittens may poop a lot probably because the food they eat now is cheap stuff with little nutritional value to absorb. Take them to the vet anyway, as a matter of routine.

They say the less the first few ingredients are filler type ingredients, the better qualty the food. I found even those very popular brands with big time ad campaigns, ingredient wise, are garbage.

I buy Blue Buffalo at Petsmart. Compare with the others before you decide to buy. Comparing made my decision easily. If its a bit more expensive, again, think about the lives of your kittens. They count on you.

I don't work for anyone in the pet food business. I just like to go the extra mile for my pets. They deserve it.

Enjoy your kittens. They are wonderful creatures.

Best of luck!

(And if you switch their food, you know you have to gradually add in the new to the old. Vets recommend 3/4 old food to 1/4 new for two days. Then, 1/2 or each for two more days. Then go to 3/4 new food and 1/4 old for two days, and then finally, only the new food.)
