Well when I battled the elite four I had only 5 lvl 43-47 and 1 lvl 53 which was the ledgendary you get to catch a little before you can fight the elite four, and i defeated all of them including the champion. It all depends on how you use the pokemon you have.

You should be around lv 50-55 at the most. If you get to lv 50 to the champion, congrats to you but she will just eat you alive.
The elite four pokemon:
1. Bug type - most are of the flying type. Use: Fire, electric, flying, ground.
2. Ground type - use: grass and water.
3. Fire type - in this one, he only use two fire type pokemon and the rest know a fire attack. Use: Water, ground, rock.
4. Psychic - Bronzong is the one you have to worry about.
Champion: Milotic, Garchomp, Gastrodon, Spiritomb, Lucario, Roserade.
Milotic, Garchomp and Lucario will give you the most trouble.

Your pokemon should all be atleast at lvl 60. It'd be better and easier if they were in the 70's though. You should bring an electric or grass, water, fire, fighting, and for the 2 last ones, you pick. Make sure you bring lots of revive's, elixer's and potions if your gonna try to beat them with your pokemon at lvl 60.

wat version? if its for ruby/saphire, use a blazeiken or a fire, ice, and fighting type for the first time around and go catch raquaza and just use it for the dragon master (outrage 1-hits all of his pokes). use sky uppercut for the first guys pokes, blaze kick for the second person, sky upper cut again for the third person (only 2 of her pokes are just ice) for the fist time through, i use kyogre for the forth guy, but a lvl 50 ice beam will work too, but be sure your ice is a fast poke so he doesn't kill you in 1 hit (dragon moves are powerful), for steven, just use blaze kick and hope to 1-hit his claydol (or use double kick on his claydol) blaziken should be around lvl 70 to do this and raquaza (if you want to come back fo exp) should be ready as soon as you catch him (use the master ball, if you catch kyogre/groudon with an ultra ball, there aren't anymore legandary pokes)

i'd suggest having at least 3 pokemon at level 65+, otherwise it will take like 100 tries
