Recently, one of my congressmen, Bill Jefferson, was indicted on 16 counts varying from racketeering to bribery. My question is, do you trust your local congress representatives? Why or why not?

Yes I do. I have met each personally. They are fine people. Usually I had a luncheon with the Senator one or twice a year. Unfortunatly, my state went from a GOP Senator to a Dem. one. So I really don't associate with him too much. Usually a call here and there to the office.
My Rep. is a fine person. I usually have lunch about once a month to talk about politics and other issues.
So yes, I do believe most of our congresspersons are fine and honest people.

In my opinion, there is a through lack of accountability and representation from many politicians today. Politics has become a heaven for the rich elite. No I do not trust my congressmen or our government as a whole!

Not in the least, though I don't think he's as bad as Jefferson. I didn't vote for my Congressman, either, and in light of some of his recent votes, I may actually work to have him replaced in the next election, which would make him a one-term Congressman.

No, mine Renzi (R), Arizona, had an office raided by law enforcement with a warrent.
Luckily I am moving to Texas, my new Congressman is honorable but like 80. Sam Johnson (R) in Texas.

Mine is fine. He has given me no reason to doubt or not to trust him. We don't always see eye to eye on everything but we do on most things. We have had face to face chats during his town hall sessions and he gets my opinion. He knows that if he doesn't represent me that I won't vote for him again. He knows that because while I talk to him and whenever I write I casually remind him of that fact.

I'm not so naive to believe that my congressmen are honest and actually care about me as a person and not just another vote.

Both of my Senators are traitors and do not represent the people of Florida.
There is a plan to remove Martinez from office....

I certainly don't trust YOUR congressmen! MY Congressmen, however, have impeccable records and are absolutely working for my best interests.

I don't trust ANY elected official starting from the city council and up.

No I do not trust them. Why? Because they are politicians. You can't trust any politician. It's the nature of the beast. Do you trust a hungry lion? I rest my case.
