Try Internet faxing! You don't need a land line, any hardware or software. Faxes are sent/received in your email inbox, so you can fax from anywhere! When you send a fax from your email it will be received at your recipients fax machine. All you need to sign up is an existing email account. If you're interested take a look at http://www.myfax.com

You need a phone line, even if you have a fax program on your comp, you cant send the fax to the comp to utilize the program.

RTFM.

To use the FAX feature, you need a phone line.

You should always have a land line, if the modem fails, then your digital phone won't work, then if you have an emergency, you can't call for help.
