No. However, they can be evicted from their home for failure to pay the mortgage. If they refuse to leave when given a formal notice of eviction, they could potentially be jailed for trespassing.

Any debt you don't pay can get you in trouble so I don't think I'd test the waters unless you just want to go to jail and see what it's like ;) Anyone can sue you for non-payment and if the courts order you to pay and you don't, I'd venture to say you might hear the clank of the doors.

Be honest ~ pay your bills like you promised you would.

No they can get foreclosed, after which their favorite pandering politician can rail against the "greedy, insensitive" lender for tossing the deadbeat out.
