I've got Vista and if you go in the control panel and look in Ease of Access or Additional Options you can turn it off that way. I can't remember which but I DO know it's definitely in one of those.

Search for Narrator in Vista's equivalent of XP's Help and Support. Use the Search box to find it

I can't be more specific, I already blew Vista away.

Yeah it's called Linux, vista is a pos operating system, why do you think Dell has finally starting shipping systems with Linux installed? M$ only wants your money dude, they have no intention of providing you with a system that runs without numerous patches. Make the switch to Ubuntu, it's easy to install and configure, and runs forever!!!! Oh yeah, it's free too!!!

In Narrator, make sure "Start Narrator Minimized" is unchecked and click "Exit."

Otherwise, I dunno...
