I can't figure out how they come up with saving energy by prolonging it. Now, in my mind, prolonging it consumes more energy (A/C running longer, etc). Also, why are we going through the rigamorow of changing times, why not just tack on 1/2 an hour and leave it that way? By the time I finally adjust to the time change, it's almost time to change back, then I've got to get used to that one too!

You may be nuts, but I agree that earlier Daylight savings may save daylight but outside the parameters of summer, we have to use a light to see at some time of the day. Even as a kid during that Nixon Daylight Savings experiment, when we were going to school with flashlights because it was so dark, I thought it was weird. Sure, we didn't have to use the lights at night, but we had to use them in the morning. So, what were we saving?

It doesn't make sense. They may tell you that they are increasing the amount of hours we are up when the sun is up but that is all bunk. They extended daylight savings and during the 3 extra weeks I was up earlier and had to use the lights because it was still freaking dark. Before the change it was getting just light enough as I woke that I didn't need to use them. I think it is doing the opposite. But of course we had more light in the evening. Yea like I really need the sun to be up at 10:00 PM when I am trying to get to sleep.

Ummmm, you should think about this for a minute. They aren't prolonging the daylight. The sun is in the sky the same amount of time regardless.

The point of daylight saving time, is so that people are awake during more of the sunlight hours (in particular, the morning hours), and thus using less electricity for lighting.

Although daylight savings was adopted before the time of electricity, the theory still stands that more enegry is conserved by allowing more daylight in the morning hours than in the afternoon hours.

That politicians think that if they can get us to believe that we are getting an extra hour of daylight,we will fall for anything.

Just one more thing they want to control. It's ridiculous.
