Our soldiers are dying and/or being maimed in Iraq in order to protect our Paris Hilton/Anna Nicole Smith obsessed culture. Fox News coverage is constantly on her house while CNN is doing other news.

We went there to take down a dictator.Unfortunately,he had his bot on the necks of three seperate cultures who didn't trust each other. Once Saddam was taken down, all three are fighting for control of the whole country. You've got the Kurds,Saddams favorite torture victims who want to unite with the Kurds in Turkey to make their own state. Then, you have the Shiites who are trying to unite with the Shiites in Lebanon and make their own state too.And finally,Saddams people, the Sunnis. They had it great under Saddam with plumbing, electricity, housing, public schools. Now that saddam is gone, they have to share in the plight like everybody else.

I don't think our culture is screwed up, but I agree with you about the obsession with celebrities. It's ridiculous. All the media time spent covering meaningless topics could be used for focusing on important issues to improve our society.

Unfortunately, the media secures $$ from ratings which is turned into advertising dollars, so it goes right back to the big bucks and mindless voyeurism. Consider the source.

particular the TROOPS are combating for our freedom by potential of killing hundreds of terrorists 'over there'. they're doing their job, yet here on the living house front we've allowed political correctness to cripple US. Americans have lost many innocent people in the WTC, and its hard to forget...but at the same time...you shouldnt handle wrong with wrong....you cant imagine how many inoccent people are killed everyday in Iraq for whatsoever reason...and their families will never forget...so its a long and very hard equation.

actually, our culture has so improved over the last century, while we still have problems, we also have advanced in human rights, minority rights, womens rights, etc etc, we are addressing child abuse, spouse abuse, black issues, and are more accepting of minority religions, while our schools do have problems, a higher percentage of Americans graduate high school, and go on to college, then in the past, so we really have more across the board to be proud of , and fight to protect, now, then we did even 30 years ago,, i am not saying the war in Iraq is to protect this, i am not sure what its about, but just that our nation is better now, then we have been, there really were not any "good old days" unless you were white and wealthy

Let's just say they are dying in Iraq because they are dedicated volunteer soldiers who have been lead to believe that they got rid of the tyrant, Saddam, that they are defending America against terrorists and keeping Iraq from falling to Al Quida ( the domino theory) that they are helping Iraq become a democratic country, that they are keeping terrorists out of America and are fighting them in Iraq. etc. Let's just let them and their dedicated families believe that. Thanks.

These soldiers are fighting so that other people who have been oppressed for hundreds of years can begin to experience the freedoms that we too often take for granted and abuse. Another effect is that there are areas that are now hearing the Gospel of Jesus Christ that have not been allowed to for hundreds of years. Please pray for protection of our soldiers, the innocents, and all people over there. It is naive and dangerous to think if we left this area alone they would forget about us.

Yes! And I am very proud and grateful for their sacrifice. It is unfortunate sometimes as to what we do with their gift but it doesn't diminish our soldiers' efforts.

Were you around for Sept. 11? Do you realize the impact that day made on our country?
That's what they are fighting for. Your freedom, your way of life (that you are used to now), and all of our freedom.
And so that people don't con. to fly planes into our national monuments and kill thousands of innocent mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, kids, etc.
