Just to be really boring here....
The natural bend in the Colon (Large bowel) from the exit orifice, (bum) is to the left and so it is (supposedly) easier to fart if you are lying on your left side, or leaning this way. Next time you need to fart and can't, try a stretch and then lie on your left, it should do the trick!

I tend to lean towards the front, that way the smell goes behind me.

None, everytime when i'm ready to fart, i fart in peoples faces and sometimes i just let it go, lol.
