Maybe the costs have been higher only since the Supreme Court stuck its nose where it didn't belong with the 1972 Furman decision. And maybe with more changes in the laws the costs can be reduced some day.

But whether or not it will ever be more cost-effective, the cost is not the only thing that matters. The severity of the punishment should match the severity of the crime, which is a moral point that needs to be made no matter what the cost.

But it only costs $.85 to put a bullet in their head. Its the leftist ACLU and human rights groups who have created a bureacracy out of capital punishment and have made it so cumbersome, the reason it costs so much is we don't just carry out the sentence at time of judgement like any other punishment. And that is because of the bleeding-heart cowards on the left not Conservatives pal.

Fact is that conservatives have been pushing to reduce the time one spends on death row before being executed, but liberals keep standing in the way. It is the liberals who are constantly promoting more appeals and other crap like that.

Oh and by the way, death row is in prison. It is just another cell in another location of the prison.

Since DNA has been proven to work and is now the indicator that is being used to determine whether or not a person is guilty, we need to revamp the laws that entitles those who are proven guilty, beyond a doubt, so as not to allow them to appeal their sentences.

While I'm not entirely sure I agree with you, that is why we are trying to decrease the amount of time a killer sits on death row.

No one take offense, these are only my views (as I am entitled to them).

You realize, don't you, that it's not the conservatives that make it costly to be on death row>?

it wouldn't be so bad if the Dems didn't value a criminals comfort over the sentence. It takes .16 cents to execute a murderer, but too many wackos think murderers have rights once they are convicted.

So what? It's not about cost, it's about justice. How much is justice worth?
