The best way to describe it is - a lot like raw egg white, when you crack open a raw egg. It can be clear or cloudy, stretchy or more of just slippery. Any of these characteristics signal that ovulation is approaching.

In nursing, they teach that you should look for it approx. 14 days from the 1st day of your last menstrual cycle. When you are ovulating, you will have a slight change in temp. (Look it up on the internet or such. It is quite lengthy or I'd explain how to check for it.) During the same time, you will excrete a clear - like mucus. The way to test if it is it is to put some between your thumb and pointing finger. When you slowly pull the two fingers apart, it should thickly suspend between the two without an immediate break in the mucous. It is stretchy.

While ovulating it SHOULD be clear, stretchy-like egg whites.
