I thought it was a great effort but, Shannon Stewart got a nice clean hit. Too bad, but, still a great game!! I know Curt Schilling sometimes has a big mouth but, I still like him and am glad he is on the Sox.
I didnt know he cried after the game but, it is ok for men to cry so I dont think he is a woman. Silly point to talk about really.

Uhh...the batter isn't stupid for hitting the ball, he's doing his job. The idea is that you play to win the ballgame, not give into a guy who's throwing a no-hitter.
That being said, anytime you even flirt with a no-hitter that's impressive. It only happens a few times a season for a reason, the best pitcher in the game Johan Santana, even if he's at the top of his game he will likely give up a hit. What do I think of Schilling? I think he's heading to Cooperstown.
Occasionally he says things and puts his foot in his mouth, but the respect he commands as a pitcher doesn't come without some respect around the league for his personality.

I watched the game once the 6th inning rolled around just to see if he would get it, simply because you dont get to see a no hitter that often. As far as the whining about losing it with 2 outs, I can remember when Dave Steib pitched for the Blue Jays he lost 3 or 4 no hitters in the 9th inning and at least 2 of them came with 2 outs. At least he was finally able to get one against the Indians. Of course I dont remember any whining from him about the player getting a hit off of him, but then again he wasnt Curt Schilling.

this is the third time schilling has thrown a one hitter. its a very rare thing for the complete no hitter. and you have to remember a few things
1) he hasnt won in his last 5 starts
2) he is in a contract yr and ever lil thing is impressive at this point. whether it be a complete game, a no hitter, a win. he is just one of the many reasons the redsox are in the position they are in right now.
he also might feel had he not shook off variteks call and trusted his catcher a lil more that he might've had the no-no.
either way for someone his age to have that type of game last night is very impressive.
heres hoping he continues to stay healthy and be a dominant piece in an already formidable redsox pitching staff. if that is the case the redsox will def be there in oct...

I am a red sox fan, and I think anyone who is going into the 9th inning is always going to be under pressure. Schilling is having another outstanding year. Just because he didnt get the no-no doesnt mean he had a bad game. The guy allowed only one hit, and didnt allow any runs. To me that is an outstanding preformance.

I really don't care how he is as a person. Although I don't necessarily disagree with some of the things he's said. As for the game, it's a shame he didn't get it. Stewart had a late swing and got lucky to get wood on it. Just out of Alex Cora's reach. He's been one of the top tier pitchers for a long time.

Shilling is one of the best pressure pitchers ever. He has one of the top won loss records in the post season. He loves the spotlight, and steps it up a level when cameras are on. Who could ever forget the bloody sock of the 2004 World series?

He went 8 2/3 inings with out giving a hit, thats great.
If u went deep in the game and gave up `1 hit to last batter and got your third 1 hit of career coming short of no no, u would cry too.

I think he's a great pitcher who's been effective for a long time. Also, he probably deserves that contract extension...kind of confusing that the mega payroll Red Sox are holding out on him. As a person though, he bugs me. He's a "born again" Christian who continually attacks other people and makes stupid remarks that a man his age should know to avoid by now.

He is a great pitcher. Too bad he didn't get his no hitter last night because he is in the last days of his career and will have very few if any more opportunities to pitch one.
Chow!!
