Doesn't it seem that the reppers & democrats are just "waiting for their turns"?

Look: Ford (R)-Carter(D)-Reagan (R)-Bush (R)-Clinton (D)-Bush "again" (R)-..... Isn't it a good bet if the next will be a (D) letter?

When Al Gore certainly "won" something happened... Then Bush wins - he even won the 2nd term. Isn't it odd?

The reason we have the Electoral College is to spur candidates to speak to the country as a whole rather than speaking only in places that have high population levels.

Were this the case, a candidate would need only to campaign in places were the population is the greatest. The EC is an attempt to level the playing field, and this is what liberals tend to want most-of-all. A level playing field. The elections here in the States are not meant to be a popularity contest, as the Gore supporters wanted in '00.

I am sorry but I don't see your point. Sometimes Republicans win sometimes Democrats win. The election results you cite show no particular pattern. Ford was actually the second half of Nixon's second term. So it goes: RR-D-RRR-DD-RR-?

Al Gore did not win. He lost the first count in Florida, conceded then withdrew his concession and went to the Fla. Supreme Court who ordered additional counts (illegal counts). Gore lost all of those recounts and finally Bush went to the Federal Supreme court to stop the illegal recounts.

You see, any laws governing recounting procedures must be in place before the election begins. Courts have no jurisdiction over elections. The recount law in Florida agreed to by both Democrats and Republicans before they knew who might want to do it, simply states that a recount of the ballots will consist of passing them through the counting machine again. No hand counting is permitted. It also states that if a recount is requested the entire state's ballots must be recounted, not just hand picked districts. It was unconstitutional
for the Fla court to even hear the complaint and it is illegal not to recount all the ballots and illegal to hand count any ballots.

With all of these facts you still maintain that Gore won? Even with at least three illegal recounts in democrat controlled districts he never had more votes in Fla than Bush. Not once.

Do you mean like in FL when the people did not push out a chad and the one counting them played physic and said they voted for gore???

By this time we should be counting the votes by computer. You should have to use you finger print for ID and have to show ID also.
And most of all you should be an AMERICAN.

And by the way even with all the recounting gore LOST.

How many times does it need to be said? The electoral college elects the president. I'm not going to go into the explanation again.
What is truly disgusting is how the "intellectual elite" of the left, who have been in charge of what passes for public education for years, is perfectly happy with the popular misconception, and does nothing as far as "education" goes, to inform students across the country as to how inaccurate that myth is.

The "odd" thing is how many people are ignorant of the Electoral College and how it works.

I don't trust our voting system at all. It's flawed to begin with. I still don't understand why we use the electoral college voting system in 2007. With all the ways we can vote now, it seems that they keep this system because it's easy to manipulate votes in both parties' favor....great question.

Oh, man. Here we go again...... More ignorance of how our democracy works. Our schools have obviously failed you. Please - I hope it's not too late - do not procreate.
