The BIOS usually has a setting that is something like:

Power management/AC Recovery/ON = System powers on after AC power is restored

At least that is what the Dell says that I am looking at right now.

You'd be much better off buying an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) to prevent the computer from crashing during a power failure in the first place. For the average computer they're not very expensive, maybe 40-60 bucks. See an example at the below link.

Best option is a UPS(Uninteruptable Power Supply). The problem is that if your system is crashed because of a power outage then it may logicaly damage the hard drive and refuse to come back without a scandisk, or it may only boot in safe mode. The reason that you 'shutdown' your computer is because that closes the files and cleans up so your next boot is clean.

If you are having AC power failures maybe you should replace the power supply on your box,,, If you DC is shotty you should try a UPS . There are intelligent UPS that come with software and help you set up your disaster plan and roll out with it.

To my knowledge the only such device is your finger - which really is not automatic.

You could configure a 120 v relay that is normally open to become normally closed for 5 seconds when it sees 120 v initially and then wire this in parallel to your manual switch but I really do not recommend this unless you are very familiar with relays and control circuits (and if you are so familiar you would not have written).

your bios may already support automatic restart after power failure.

Wouldn,t a better way be to get a UPS, so it stays on
when the power goes out.
