some one asked a questions who are the worst fans in baseball, and at least 85% of the people who answered the question said Philadelphia Phillies fans. i am a Phillies fan, and i do agree that my fellow passionate fans are very very rude, but to say that we need to be locked up in cages, and that we are animals and that we are filthy, and all this other crap is being just as rude as they are saying phillies fans are don't you think?
i mean i am not in denial that phillies fans are extremely hostile, rude , and obnoxious, but to say what those answers said was preposterous.

the followin is an example of one of the answers that i thought was too much: "The Filthadelphia Phillie fans for sure. It's like city opened the doors to all the local jails and let every convict in the city go to the games. And God forbid they get drunk. Call the patty wagons.
The city of brotherly love my azz!"

I think to say that Phillies fans should be "locked in cages" is more than a little bit excessive. Phillie fans are tough, end of story. That's just the way it is. They take their sports very seriously. If you can't handle that, start going to Cubs games where the fans are a little more laid-back. It comes down to different cities, different styles.

Phillies fans are passionate, and that can lead to them being rude. As for the worst and rudest fans I would say the Redskins or classic Browns (before they moved to Baltimore) are much worse.
As a Denver Broncos fan I have been to games in Washington and Cleveland before the move when my team was playing the other team and I had to leave both times because of multiple drunk idiots who actually wanted to start a fight. In both cases I had food or drinks spilled on me and thrown at me.
As a Rockies Fan I have been to a game in Philly and I did receive some verbal abuse, but it was not even a competition to what happened in Washington and Cleveland. I even went to an Eagles game when they played the Broncos and the worst that happened was a couple of guys who started on how much better McNabb was than Elway.
As another comparison, I have went to three road games where the Raiders and the Broncos played each other. This is a rivalry and in many ways it is a bitter rivalry with multiple fights when the game is in Denver. In Oakland I received a lot of respect from the fans for showing up and some very good natured ribbing.
I travel for work a lot so I take time to go to games when I can get tickets. Philly fans will never be as bad as Washington is or Cleveland was.

I say Yankees fans are the worst. I'm an Orioles fan and have been to O's - Yanks games in Baltimore. It's almost no fun to go to the games because of the rude *******. I live in Arizona right now and I'd say AZ fans are the most respectful, though not as knowledgeable as a whole. Lots of times they don't make a sound even if the home team is doing good, it's like people are afraid to cheer because of what the other rich people might think about them. I think they'll catch on though.

I won't say that Philadelphia fans need to be locked in cages or anything like that. I am a Maryland resident, and you can tell my by SN that I am an Orioles fan and a Ravens fan. I vacation in Ocean City Maryland every year, where during the summer time you'll find a good number of people from the Philadelphia area along with Baltimore. You can go down there and find a lot people where McNabb jerseys and a lot of Ray Lewis jerseys and Todd Heap jerseys.
I have dealt with nice Eagles fans, I've dealt with rude Eagles fans, who were happy that the Eagles pryed away TO from the Ravens, and along with alcohal some didn't mind rubbing it in our faces. We see how the TO situation in Philly worked out.
Personally I think Yankee fans (in general, NOT ALL) are the rudest fans that I've dealt with. I've been to couple of Orioles/Yankees games at Camden Yards. some fans where decent and knowledgeable to talk to. Most fans as the game wore on, and the alcohal set in became rude and obnoxious, and loved to rub it in the faces of loyal Orioles fans when the Yankees would score. Turn the tables and if the Orioles where winning, Yankee fans got angry because the hometown fans where cheering for their team.
Some fans would talk down about Baltimore itself, the ushers and security had plenty of fans that where ejected from the ballpark. Fortunately most Orioles/Ravens fans like me have a trump card when Yankee fans start ragging on the Orioles. Just mention superbowl 35, and add that the Ravens beat the Jets in the regular season that year. Yeah we know a thing or two about playoff atmospheres here.
Get alcohal into any fans and some have the potential to be rude and obnoxious. Get alcohal into some Eagles fan (I say Eagles because most Phillies fans also root for the Eagles), and it seems to like they are cut from a similar mold to that of a Yankees fan.
Edit: To the Tigers fans, not all people who get dissed by Philly fans (or any fans for that matter) deserve it. I have been dissed by Yankees fans in an Orioles ballpark, and as you can see it's my observation that some Eagles fans act similarly to Yankees fans when alcohal is involved. I don't incite things with any fan unless I'm forced to defend the team I root for in a case of bragging. You haven't been in contact with a Philly fan, I have.

Tame fans here in the Midwest are confused and even frightened when we see fanatics for teams who resort to violence and other extremes that we'd never dream of. Cubs fans throwing garbage on the field is embarrassing enough. All I know is when I saw J.D. Drew go to Philly to play a game, they had to take him out because fans were chucking batteries and bottles at him. That's class alright. You yourself may be a model citizen and a loyal fan, but your collective city has earned a very poor reputation.

Ignore-- Ignorance. I personally have never came in contact with a Philly fan to comment but I can certainly relate with you being passionate about your team. You should be! People generalize too much! I say more power to you and obviously whomever was mistreated by Philly fans DESERVED IT!! LOL

I am a DIE HARD Yankee fan!!! And well on memorial day I went to six flags. I had on a Yankee t-shirt and my Yankee handbag. One of the guys who worked there came up to me with the height stick.. the thing to measure young kids to see if they van ride the rides due to their height. I am clearly not short.. but then he said "because you're a Yankee fan I have to measure you to see if you can ride" I thought that he was either a Red Sox Fan or a Mets fan.. the teams we have a long term rivalry with.. and then I told him "I bet you're either a red Sox fand or Mets fan.." and to my surprise.. he said that he was a Philly fan.. that was just TOO weird.. I was totally lost!!!! Like I mean what was that??? So did I find that rude? yes I did.. because his team has NOTHING to do with my team! We are even in different leagues... it just made no sense!!!!

Sorry, but the truth can hurt sometimes. No sympathy for you here. But at least your fans haven't burned your city to the ground yet after winning a championship, so that's a plus.

Unfortuately your fellow fans make people feel that way. But to be hateful doesn't make it right. Although some of your fellow fans would be better off in a cage. Obviously you are not one of them.
