Yes I was 7 when I learnt to ride a bike. The boy next door who was 3 years older than me owned the bike and held the saddle for a while and then let go and hey presto I was riding on my own.
My first bike was one my dad made out of bits from other bikes. A frame that he painted red, and put red and white chequered sticky tape on, the handle bars and saddle came from an old bike of his, and I never found out where the wheels came from although they had new tyres on them.
The first time I rode it I went around a corner a bit too fast sraight into a pile of chippings and fell off, and scraged my knees which turned septic.

Yay! I had those clip things on the spokes of my tyres too!
.......and also a siren on the handlebars and I could select whether I wanted to sound like a Fire Engine, a Police car or an Ambulance!!
Hahaha, how cool!!! : )
............. and I used to paperclip a piece of old credit card to the back tyre, which made a noise as the wheels went round and made my bike sound like a motorbike!! Supposedly!!
Haha!! : )
Oh thats cheered me up! : )

Yup! I had a 'Bluebird' bike with a basket. I had the 'spokees' as we called them too! and plastic cards that made a motorbike/ farty noise on the spokes when cycling! When I was let go, I swerved into a ditch and went over my handlebars! I have a scar on my cheek to remind me of that day. Ironically i love mountain biking now , so I suppose it did me no harm really.

Somebody stole my bike. I saw it on TV. It was on that UM.... Oh yes! Hovis bread advert. It was a load of cobblers ;)
I learned on other kids bikes. I think i was 5yrs old. I got my first at 14 or 15. It was just like the one one the commercial and once the brakes wore down, i couldn't get replacements to fit lol .

My first bike sounds very similar to yours, except mine was purple!! I loved those clippy things too. I remember my grandad pretended he had bought me chocolate bar, but when i went round i realised he had got me a bike! I was thrilled! I learnt to ride in the park, i didn't realise my aunty had let go of the back of the bike, and carried on riding! xXx

I had the kid's bike (yellow banana seat) with training wheels. Then my dad taught me how to ride my mom's OLD Schwinn. I crashed into a tree and fell on the lawn.

When I was 10years I did'nt have my own bike so I borrowed my dad's so it was a long way up in the saddle. I took it on a grass field to learn . I started to stand on one pedal and my older brother told me to sit on the saddle and straddle it. I fell of a few times before learning to balance.

I will never forget it. My first time without stabilisers ended in tears. I suddenly forgot how to steer the bike and rode straight into a wall.....

My first boke was a barbie bike. It was pink and had pink taslles on it. I also had a matching barbie crash helmet too. It was really cute, but i was a bit wobbly on it.
I now use my dad's mountain bike, but keep getting my laces caught in the chain.
