Great choices! If you could read all of them I'd say go for it. I love Toni Morrison so if you like Song of Solomon I also suggest Bluest Eye and Beloved. Their Eyes Were Watching God is also an amazing book. I'd start with those first.

I've only read these two:
Catch-22 (Joseph Heller)
Their Eyes Were Watching God (Zora Neale Hurston)
You can't go wrong either way. But I should note that Hurston's book might take some getting used to, as the a lot of the dialog is early ebonics. Actually I can't even call it ebonics...she writes the sounds instead of the words. Like "going to the store" might be something like "goin' tuh da stow." That's not in the book (I think) but it's an example of the style in the dialog.

I have only read Jane Eyre and I love it. I love, even more, Vilette, also by C Bronte. The books on yr list are all very different and would probably appeal to different tastes and people. Having said that, my husband loves both Jane Eyre and Catch-22.

I've never read any of those books, but I'd read Steinbeck first since I liked Grapes of Wrath and Cannery Row. The last one on my list would be Toni Morrison only because I was forced to read her books in college and I just didn't like them.

I found Their Eyes Were Watching God to be the most interesting. However, she uses local dialect in her writing. When you reach dialog sections, it helps to read it out loud just as she wrote it. You'll understand it better when you hear it than when you see it.
I haven't read Song of Soloman, but Toni Morrison is a very good writer. I'm sure it's good. Steinbeck isn't interesting to me.
