I am 15 weeks pregnant and at my midwife appointment yesterday she couldnt find the heartbeat. At first we assumed the baby was "hiding" and laughed about it and she kept trying. After 20 minutes (we timed it) still no heartbeat. I could tell my midwife was getting nervous and all talking stopped about halfway through her searching for it. I have had 4 miscarriages before and am very scared about this pregnancy. She ordered an emergency ultrasound to be done this afternoon. She said it was unusual because I have lost weight (i wasnt big to begin with) and they found the heartbeat wth ease at 8 weeks and at 12 weeks. I have been cramping a lot for about 2 weeks and they have been monitoring me and calling me regularly to keep track of my progress. I just want to know if anyone else has had this problem and what it meant for them?

It means they can't hear the heart beat EXTERNALLY....I am not medically trained what so ever but I will be more than happy to share my own experience with you......
Your weight can go up and down at the beginning of your pregnancy...I lost weight too and it wasn't a big deal....I just didn't feel like eating anything but yogurt :-)~. They couldn't hear my babies heartbeat either so they did a vaginal ultrasound (sounds WAY worse than it is...I PROMISE)...and there it was.....and they could see it before they could hear it.
PLEASE do not worry until you are given something to worry about. Our bodies are so strange and complicated....maybe your baby is hiding....he/she is rather small now so any part of your tummy can be a great hiding place.
I will keep you in my happy thoughts and I wish you the best of luck!!!!

I hate to say it, but you probably lost the baby. They should have found a heartbeat especially after looking so long. Or it could be that you just are not far enough to hear it with a Doppler. Maybe they Will find one with the U/S. I hope they can find one with the U/S. Don't worry until there is need to worry! I hope all is well with the baby and you. I know sometimes you can't hear it because the baby is so small - so they will be able to see it -
I am sorry! Keep your chin up and know everything happens for a reason and when it is your time to have a baby - all will be well and you wil have that perfect little bundle.

Try not to worry. I am 22 weeks and on Tuesday went for my OB appt. At that time although I could feel the baby moving (and we could hear him moving around), we had a hard time finding his heartbeat. I went for an ultrasound yesterday and all was well. Try not to stress (I know that is nearly impossible!) because it's not good for you or baby! I too had a previous miscarriage so everything is a little scarey to me! Just don't panic, all could be well. I hope and pray that it is! Please let us know how it goes!
Very Best Wishes!

I really, really hope that they see a perfectly healthy heartbeat and baby on the screen today. Good luck. I'm sure the baby could have been pressed further into your back and the heartbeat may have been hard or not able to hear because of the positioning. Don't worry. I hope everything goes good today.

DId they find the heart beat on the ultrasound? Thats a crucial piece of information. Tell us after your ultrasound.

I think up to like 13 weeks it was really hard to find my sons heart beat. There were even times after then whey she'd have to spend a LONG time looking for it.

Just wait for your ultrasound.

You can have strong cramps all the way through your pregnancy, its braxton hicks and okay. I had them really bad for the first 13 weeks, then contractions kicked in at about 4.5 months and lasted clear through.

Dont panic until you have reason to. Its not healthy. I know it sucks not knowing.

death is in comparison to you notice interior the movies, the place the affected person is gasping out his previous few words, all at once rasps and rattles "Rosebud," and his head falls over. it incredibly is interior the movies in basic terms. In actual life, you lose awareness in the previous you attain the unquestionably factor of death. no one has ever had to journey their very own death. Ever. once you die, you're no longer conscious of it, so which you will by no potential are conscious of it incredibly is happening. by making use of the time you acquire to the "cremation" factor, your synapses on your techniques might have disconnected before, and you does no longer word you have been being cremated. reality is, death may well be a splash unsightly, incredibly for, say, a wounded soldier, yet death is very in general non violent and quiet. you basically lose awareness, after which you pass minutes later while you're subconscious.

Don't panic until there is something to panic about. Sometimes the baby is just hard to find in there... at 15 weeks he/she is still pretty small... So don't worry, i'm sure everything is fine! :) Good luck
