Has anyone seen the studies in this link.
i found them very interesting.
I am posting this instead of info from any right to life or pro-choice sites.
If you scroll down there are some tables that show percentages of reason why women have chosen abortion. My favorite is the study that shows what kind of BC methods are being used.

It seemed very balanced when I was reading the studies. Just facts. It did not say if it supported or was against it.

Heidi, I read it too, funny you pick out a one liner that supports your theory and ignore the cold hard facts in the studies.

Another Guttmacher study points out that that teen pregnancy rates in the United States are still so much higher than in other developed countries due to lack of contraceptive use. The abortion rates are consequently much higher also.
In the United States, the teen abortion rate is several times higher than in Germany, the Netherlands or France. Obviously we are doing a very poor job in sex education and in the availability of contraceptives.

Well, if we take the Christian doctrine to its logical conclusion, then abstinence is just as much of a murder as birth control. A condom prevents a sperm from fertilizing an egg; but so does remaining a virgin. If preventing conception is "early abortion", then so is abstinence. The only solution to this is to round up all women of child-bearing age (12 or so and up), put them in giant factories and inject them with sperm daily. God forbid we waste a single egg.
As to the question itself -- statistics like that must be seen in historical context and demographic context. (For one thing, for example, countries where abortion is illegal or severely restricted tend to have higher rates of infanticide. Moreover, overall increases in abortion rates are at least in part attributable to growing population.) I remember reading a French book from the late 1940's (when both abortion and contraception were illegal in France), which stated that France had about equal number of abortions and births every year. That means, about 50% of pregnancies ended in abortion -- in the vast majority of cases, they were by married women with the active assistance and financial backing of the husband. And yet, polls showed that the French public was overwhelmingly opposed to legalizing abortion. All this demonstrates is just how hypocritical people are when it comes to abortion; they think it should be prohibited for everyone else, but if they need it, it's okay.

I decided to read before I scrolled down, and find it intersting that you would use this source. You have stated several times that if women would just use birth control, abortion would be unnecessary. Here is an excerpt from your source...
Conclusions: Reasons women give for why they seek abortion are often far more complex than simply not intending to become pregnant; the decision to have an abortion is usually motivated by more than one factor. While improved contraceptive use can help reduce unintended pregnancy and abortion, some abortions will remain difficult to prevent, because of limits to women's ability to determine and control all circumstances of their lives.
Have you REALLY been enlightened? oh, and I don;t care what a woman's reason is, that is her business.
EDIT: I posted the ENTIRE conclusion. Funny you ignore the point of the research...and also the point, which is that you judge women for not using birth control, when it simply isn;t that cut and dry. Sometimes god has a sense of humor...i would be VERY careful to not get pregnant...you ,too, may see that things are not always so cut and dry.

My mom was 15 when she had me. Obviously I am glad that she didnt abort me. Instead I was adopted, and given a chance at a great life. There are many parents out there that cant have children like mine and would love to adopt a child. Unfortunately it can take years and cost thousands of dollars to adopt. Many people get tired of waiting or just give up and go overseas somewhere to adopt one of the thousands of orphened children.
I really like getting to talk to people face to face that know me about abortion. Its hard to try to argue someone should have an abortion when you are staring at someone in the face that is living and breathing because they were not pulled out of the womb and then flushed down the drain or thrown in the trash.

Interesting, but kind of incomplete. The tables don't have any data for unmarried women and their birth control method or use. So it doesn't really address some key things. But what it does address is interesting.

I had not... Very interesting article, and the graphs explain it pretty well. I must say I had not realized how prevalent abortion is all over the world. Disturbing...

Guttmacher actually does have a slight pro-choice bias, but their stats often support the pro-life position! Nice work.
Like I said, the bias is only slight, and the "just the numbers" parts are great. But the bias is there. For instance, in this article on Choose Life license plates, they consistently refer to pro-lifers as being "anti-choice." Not even "anti-abortion." That strikes me as being a little biased. http://www.guttmacher.org/statecenter/spibs/spib_CLLP.pdf

I see that almost half of American abortions are for 'bad timing' and 'can't afford'.
Those don't seem like good enough reasons to me.

Abortion and birth control are immoral. They take away the life of a human being. It doesn't matter the circumstances, abortion kills a child and should be banned. Birth control is just early term abortion. The only answer for this is abstinence. Even in marriage, if children are not desired, just abstain from sexual relations.
