If he keeps this up for the rest of the year I don't know how yoou guys could keep hating on him. The guy has gotten a lot of 'meaningful' hits this year. I mean A-Rod has gotten blamed for everything in every city has has played but the guy puts up unbelievable numbers. I hear you guys are ready to run Johnny Damon out too.

News Flash! It's not the offense that is killing your team. I don't think even Roger Clemens can pull a Superman on this one. And I see the Yanks are trying for Teixeira? How about thinking about pitching first, SP, bullpen maybe? I know Cashman can't be that much of an idiot, can he?

SWINGMAN258, I would agree with you, however, it's not A-Rod who was a bonehead for taking the money. It's the Texas Rangers who started the mess. So you wouldn't take the money offered because you knew you weren't God? I am willing to bet you would take the money as well. I don't listen to the media, I read the numbers and I watch the game. It's not A-Rod's fault unrealistic expectations were put on him. He is a baseball player not God. Yes, I would pay that pricetag for A-Rod on my team and not complain. Because like I said it's not a crime for taking the money. The crime was the Rangers offering it.

And yes, it is Cashman's fault. Every team has injuries. I would say he needs to go before Torre. Cashman is the one who signs these old guys who break and has not created farm depth. Yes, I know guys like Pavano but what about Sheffield and Unit? Neither were great and were even worse in postseason. A bad farm system will only spell disaster when injuries happen. That's one reason the Braves are able to compete on the tight budget they have, the farm! Yes, Cashman is very much to blame, just as much as Georgie Boy. But he is the owner so somebody has to take the fall and it's the next man down.

Yankees fan suck and share a mind with their crappy overrated media, so probably not. There is so much pride in the New York media about how ruthless they are that they feel as if it is their duty to attack anyone outside of "the chosen ones" (Jeter, Clemens). New Yorkers share a mind and think they are better than all other fans, when in fact all they do is whine better collectively as a group than any other fans.

A-Rod will always be a bust in Ny until he performs in October and the Yanks win a WS. Don't you get it? His regular season stats are meaningless because Yanks would have made the playoffs with or without him.

I don't know what you mean about JD. He was everything we expected last season and we understand he's hurt this season. He is still a very valuable bat.

Nobody is expecting Clemens to be the ace. Wang is the ace. Petitte is 6th in AL ERA (very solid). Mussina is still one of the better starters in baseball. With Hughes coming back, this is a 5 man rotation that would be hard to improve upon. The bullpen could use some help. But what team is going to give up good relievers? Don't be naive. It's nearly impossible.

Bashing Cashman for going after Texiera? Do you have a clue as to what is going on with the Yankees right now? Giambi and Mientkevicz are out for a long time. Yankees need a 1st baseman. The fact that Tex swings a good bat is a bonus, but the acquisition is more for his defensive ability.

Now that I've answered all your questions about your favorite team, you can get back in the closet. We don't need your support.

Reds my first team, Yanks my 2nd team; obviously not much to cheer about on either end. I think the true Yankee fans just want a change. I think a coaching change may be in order and the die hard fans just don't want to say it, but if it happens, they'll take it. This is one of those situations where "on paper, yadda yadda..1 of the best teams." But it is definitely their pitching. You should be able to win a game 1-0, 3-2, 4-2, a normal baseball game score. some of their losses in June were: 11-15, 3-5, 3-7, 6-10, 3-4, 6-11, 4-6 You score 11, 6, 4 runs and DON"T win, wtf? Losses in May were: 6-7, 4-6, 4-6, 6-7, 8-10, 6-7, 5-7..... do you see the pattern? And this was in May when A-Rod wasn't hitting well. YANKS SCORED 6, 4, 8, 5 runs and lost. Oh, so A-Rod should have hit better in May, so NY could win 10-7, 11-10, 12-7. Come on, you need double digits to win a game? I think we are looking at the wrong side of the ball....

Being a Red Sox fan and even more a fan of the game I have to answer this question. This is not the year for the Yankees, their pitching will be their downfall. The have probably the toughest line up in the game especially 1-5 but their starters are basically all injured. Wang comes back this week which will help, Mussina is due back as well but he is up there in age and has been inconsistent to start this year. A bigger concern with their pitching is their bullpen, they have a horrible relief staff that has costthe a few games already. Rivera is a great closer and he has blown 2 save but he will be back to form but the set up guys look very week and could be the biggest problem the team has.

A-rod will be loved in NY once he starts hitting in the playoffs.. sure his numbers are great in every season but look at this ALDS and ALCS numbers.. terrible. The guy just doesn't hit when it matter most and that's not talking bottom of the 9th with two outs, its when your whole season is on the line and you NEED to come through...

That's why Yankee fans still LOVE Bernie Williams.. no matter how bad a season he had, he always seemed to come alive when it mattered most.

But I'll say this, Yankee fans have definitey lightened up to Arod this season.. He's definitely not getting booed as bad as last year.. Who knows maybe after this year (if he's still a Yankee) the fans will get off his back

I'm a Yankees fan and I don't hate A-Rod. I've never given him a hard time, yeah I've been disappointed in him before, but that passed before the week was over. I like the guy, he's good. And Damon has been hurt a lot this year. That's why he is struggling. I do wish other Yankees fans weren't so hard on A-Rod and I wish they'd give Damon a break. The guys is hurt.

you obviously only follow mainstream opinions that you see from yankee-bashing writers

a-rod is getting a huge break because he is earning his money!!!

honestly, why were so many people surprised when he got booed for playing shitty

HES MAKING 25MIL A YEAR!!!!! he doesnt get a break until he performs worth 25MIL A YEAR

and no one is giving a-rod a hard time now, but come playoffs yess he will, because he doesnt perform in the postseason!

thats why he took the blame in seattle and texas. he would put up outstanding regular season numbers, but come postseason time, he sucked. is that worth 25MIL a year????

and yes everybody knows the yanks need SPs because of the injury bug. but they went out and got clemmens. they arent going to sign / trade for a pitcher until they see what he can do.

and personally i dont think they need texeira. they have 3 capable 1B who can split the time, all-be-it none of them are power hitters like a traditional yanks 1B is

and i love how everyone bashes cashman. listen, cashman isnt the one out there not performing. hes not the one getting hurt. jsut because george gave him control, he gets the blame for everything

the yanks are underperforming, and i dont see cashman out there in a uniform hitting .220

Yeah Yeah Yeah,,Look at these answers.Look at the most popular answer, Arod must come through in a cluch!! AROD!! Not Jeter,Not Matusi,Not Abreu, nor Giambi,Just Arod in Oct,,What a bunch of jerks,Lets not add our pitchers,,Lets see The moose couldn't hold on to a 31 lead with the tigers,,AH,,OH YEA,,Rivera gave up the homer to boston in the 2004 Alc,But it MOST be only Arod,Yankee fans
better wake up and stop blaming Arod for all our failures,It's pitching, and terrible offense, thats killing us,not to mention,,no passion for the game, last yr our team looked soooooo bored being in the playoffs,i would have had more fun watching paint dry!! If it wern't for arod this yr,Boston would be 16 games ahead of us!!! Hear that so called yankee fans!! 16

Here's when new york shuts up

Game 7 World Series
Yankees down by 3
Bottom of the ninth
bases loaded
2 outs
3-2 count
a-rod hits a grand slam and wins the world series for the yankees

till that happens, nope.

2007-06-08 05:14:40 · answer #9 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

If he manages to help lead them to the World Series, then yes. They will love him after that. New York fans are tough and demanding. They are used to, and expect, success. They were even slow to accept Mickey Mantle at first. And you are right about Clemens. They need more than one pitcher to step up for them at this point.
