Answer to (1) is, it depends on the 2 anti-virus pieces of software: some of them "co-exist" okay, and others "insist" on living alone. For example, I have AVG. When I tried to add Kapersky, Kapersky would have none of it: it said, take off that there AVG or I'll not live with ya! But when I had Norton and installed AVG, AVG said, fine by me! Both co-habited. There is always the chance that either (a) one anti-virus program will catch something the other missed and/or (b) one anti-virus program will think something about the other is an infection...(Anti-spyware wise, Spybot detects the presence of Adaware, and warns before running...)

As far as (2) there are several solutions around...MS offers a PC scan that offers tune-up suggestions. The book, XP Annoyances for Geeks has a wealth of references to websites that have performance scans...

1. You should have 1 anti-virus,2 anti-spyware and also 1 firewall.

2. Using registry cleaner can fix your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there are some regsitry errors and remnant, corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause "computer slow".
Everytime you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you've installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it's Registry entries. You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Regisry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically! It even can speed up your computer by 300% or more!
There are some comparison and review of TOP 5 registry cleaners.
