I am 36 weeks 2 days and 2 cm dialated. This is my third baby and I am miserable. I've been thinking about starting to try the, natural induction methods once I reach 37 weeks, such as walking, eating pineapple, sex, etc., but at the same time I don't want to start things too early and have complications. My 1st daughter was born at 39 weeks, 7lbs 8oz, my 2nd 38 weeks 8lbs 9 oz. Has anyone had "normal / healthy" births at 37 weeks?

I had my baby right when I turn 37 weeks. It is considered full term and there are babies born without any problems at all. But just out of experience i would say wait a little. When mine was born he had to go to the NICU. and ended up being there for 12 days because he wouldn't eat. But there are babies who are just fine at 37 weeks

Good Luck.

Absolutely...My twin niece and nephew were born at 36 weeks. One was 5lbs 9 oz, the other 4lbs 8 oz. The smaller one had a small lung problem, but was perfectly fine. The problem was more to do with being twins then being 36 weeks. His sister was hogging all the nutrients. If they would have went complete full term, his problems would probably have been worse. He spent a little longer in the hospital but came home within a week and is perfectly healthy. They are now almost 6 months old and are perfectly healthy and happy. Good luck and congrats

There is a reason why you go into labor when its time for you to go into labor. Its at 40 weeks because thats how long it takes for a baby to develop completely. The last couple of weeks are used pretty much exclusively for the development of the lungs, liver and layering up with some fat, which is needed for the baby to survive. The last of the nuerological development is finishing up as well.

Babies born at 37 weeks are considered full term, and their chance of survival is almost 100% bar any complications or unseen issues.

But why on earth would you want your baby to "survive" so that you can save yourself a few more days of pregnancy? Wouldnt you rather go ahead and suffer through those last couple weeks so that baby can have the best opportunity to thrive?

Just stick it out.

I honestly never been pregnant but I can say this. With all of this modern technology hospitals have nowadays, a lot is done in order to keep the mother and child healthy. Don't stress because that you be making it worse. I'm sure your doctor knows your situation and he or she will do whatever it takes to ensure a healthy and normal childbirth.

95% of births at 37 weeks need no extra medical attention. Most of them are completely healthy, as the due date usually miscalcualted rather than the birth being early.

when you reach 37 weeks your baby is not considered premature. my boyfriends mum told me that he was born at 36weeks and he was 7lb 7oz so yeah most babies are healthy at 37 weeks i spoze it would just depend on the sort of pregnancy you have had and how you have coped through it good luck x
