Acutally if you are over here of the east coast, get a copy of the dailies sent to you for the east coast. Once you start auditioning here (most agencies have locations on both coasts) maybe she will feel better about you moving there.
There are some great places in NY, NC and FL. Go with a real agency not a place that also does their own leasons.

Do you want to "just" act or do you think a Hollywood life is as galmourous and wonderful as what the Hollywood media portrays it to be? After hearing Anna Nichole Smith's name several times a day for two months after her death, I just thanked God I was just another anonymous Jane on the street. When I see the gossip rags scream things like "Stars without makeup!" or how an actress had the audacity to gain weight, I'm again happy I'm more or less a nobody in a career where it doesn't matter if I gain five pounds (sure, it could affect my health, which could affect my career, but that's not on the superficial level) or if I wear makeup or not (I don't).
My husband's cousin has a Master's in acting. He's in Chicago (which I guess is a small-big theater area) waiting tables while also working in a Shakespear troupe. I dont know if he's one of those who wants to make it "big" or not. I just know that he is doing what he likes (not only acting, but doing Shakespear), while at the same time waiting tables. (I don't have my bachelor's degree yet, or even my associates, and I'm qualified to do that.)
Last week when my husband and I were in NYC we talked with a bartender who was one of the hundreds of waiters/wanna-be-actors in the city. The last time we were there a couple of years ago, we spoke with a waitress who wanted to be on Broadway. There is actually a restaurant, Ellen's Stardust Cafe on Broadway where the waiters and waitresses are all wanna-bes and they sing and do mini-performances while the customers eat.
My husband's sister is going to be in a beauty/modeling conest (for which she has to pay, which I find suspicious) in the hopes of being "discovered" in NYC next month in the hopes of being "discovered" and famous. I'm a bit worried since she seems naive and thinks that if she's rich and famous she'll be happy. As though she believes the line in the old song, "Mr. Jones and Me," "If everybody loves you, you can never be lonely." Yeah. That's a pipe dream in itself.
If you want to act, start in community theater, school plays, etc. You'll still be doing your dream and building your resume. If you're meant to go to Hollywood and make it big, it will happen.
On the other hand, you can just wait until your 18th birthday pack up and go. Your mom can't stop you then. (Thankfully, my SIL is naive enough to realize that she's 21 and can legally pack up and move out without her mother's permission. NYC would tear her up in a second if she was there alone. At least she'll be supposedly chaperoned on her modeling trip.)
I digress.

IF you cannot make it as a model / actress in you own state knowing the environment and with I would imagine a better network.
How do you suppose an unknown, with no valuable contacts in Hollywood will make it. There are literally thousands like you there. Most starving or working in low paid jobs.
I know what you are on about - You think your Mom will / must support you while you wait for success. That is just selfish.
My suggestion is that you prove yourself in your state, build a network.
Use that network to find a decent agent in Hollywood who can get you in to meet the right people who WILL NOT TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOUR DESIRE TO SUCCEED.

Obvioulsy, that many people's dreams. First thing you need to do is be "completely" honest with yourself because lots of rejections are expected. Ego aside...do you really think you are good enough? If so, than have that conversation with your family. Ultimately it's really up to you, but the support of those closest to you can be really important. Also, having a plan of action can help you when talking with your family (e.g. pro/cons list, employment options, residence, etc.) This will make it seem as if you actually did your research and are grown up enough to make these kinds of decisions.

Well - The best way to convince your mother, would be to show here the vital info. Where she can work, the prices of homes in the area that you want to move, gas prices, mass transportation options. Put together a pros and cons list of staying where you are versus moving. Then put together the back-up paperwork to support the pros.

Go to New York. They have good places for people that want to pursue a career like yours. LA is a good place too. And these places are closer.
