These are hard cold facts about abortion in this country. So when you say you are pro choice, are you aware that........

* 82% of all abortions are performed on unmarried women.

* 52% of U.S. women obtaining abortions are younger than 25, and teenagers obtain 19%

* 48% of women who have abortions had at least one previous abortion (that's nearly half)

* 93% of women having abortions claim that having a baby would interfere with work, school or other responsibilities; they cannot afford a child; they do not want to be a single parent or are having problems with their husband or partner.

* Less than 7% of abortions are results of incest, rape, or health risks to the mother or the baby.

Still think that a mother murdering her unborn baby as a form of post-sex birth control should be a choice???

There is no reasonable defense for the Pro-Choice side of the argument. There just isn't. They try to say "its not a life its a fetus" and all that minutia but that's just smoke and mirrors. Even the potential for life is a miracle and should not be lessened with "its not a life its a fetus.'" And the next time I hear, " you can't have an opinion if you've never been pregnant", I think I'm gonna strangle somebody. I think as a father of 1 with 1 on the way I certainly have a right to an opinion about murdering unborn babies. Until you've looked at that miracle looking up at you and smiling you have no right to tell me that I can't have an opinion.

I hated kids I was never gonna have any I was very pro-choice in fact I was pro-abortion and then I met my daughter and all that changed. To think that a simple act of cowardice could have ended that life makes my blood boil. To think that there are miracles like that being squelched ever day incenses me. And I am by no means a religious person. I don't believe in any man-created gods, haven't gone into a church since I was child, will not let my children be brainwashed by them either.

With that said, the only reasonable laws are the ones that are on the books right now. You can't pick and choose who can and can't have an abortion or what circumstances are legitimate and which aren't. That's not reasonable and too open for abuse.

But this shouldn't be a legislative issue nor certainly should it be a political one, but the Neo-marxists in the Demorat party have made it a political issue and the religious fanatics on the right are more than happy to fight it politically. This is a culture issue, its a human issue. It is inhuman to kill a life as precious as an unborn child but it is just as inhuman to bring that same miracle into the world unwanted and uncared for.

The only way to make it a reasonable govenmentally controlled problem is to stop the process before conception. The only way to do that is probably too Draconian for our PC society, but forced contraception or forced abstinance. Solves everyones problem except maybe the Catholics. It is certainly not Liberals in our education system telling kids its ok to have sex, it isn't that. But then there is that whole rediculous choice argument. "its a 14 year olds choice to have sex we can't infringe on that" BS we can and must teach our kids the consequences of having sex and should not aleviate those consequences with on demand abortion.

The people who hate Israel don't worry about facts, and will make any statement, no matter how absurd, that makes it sound like Israel is in the wrong. Take, for example, the claim that Israel is like Nazi Germany, which is so ridiculous, it doesn't deserve a detailed refutation. Zvi the Fiddler

this in not a woman health issue. women in the now group think of pregnancy as VD or a flu bug now days. abortions should only be used in the case of proven incest or proven rape if deemed necessary. if you do not want a baby than do not have sex or give it up for adoption

"Pregnant with an unwanted child" I saw posted here. Have you ever though that if you put a little effort into it you could prevent yourself from becoming pregnant by using BC!

The women made her choice when she dropped her panties and consented to unprotected sex with her partner, period. Deal with the consequences of your action or learn to live responsibly.

It is not anyone's right to tell another person what they can and can't do with their own body. You cannot "make" a woman have a child if she doesn't want one. A fetus is not government property, no matter that you would like it to be.
Since you seem to be a pro-lifer, what you are advocating is taking any woman, that is pregnant, locking her up and supervising the birth of the child by government control. Are you guys insane?

The stat that 93% of women think that having a kid would interfere with their lives is highly disturbing.

You would think they would keep that in mind before they had unprotected sex.

When one is defending the 'choice', they are defending the right to kill their unborn child because they didn't bother to prevent the unintended pregnancy in the first place.

Yes, as a matter of fact, I
DO know what I'm defending. I do NOT believe in using abortion as a form of birth control, but there are circumstances where it is warranted. Since it's impossible to regulate the circumstances, abortion must remain legal. And sorry to use an old cliche, but if you have never been in the position of being pregnant with an unwanted child, I don't care very much what your opinion is.

And Rosie, just so you know, birth control is not infallible. Of course there are people who get pregnant because they didn't use birth control, but there are also people who get pregnant that DID use birth control. Should married people who don't want children be forced to remain celebate? Most doctors won't sterilize a woman is she's in her 20s. What's your solution for them if they've taken all precautions and still get pregnant?

I really hate it when people call it "Pro-Choice", it's not! It's Pro- Choice Choice!!! These women ALREADY have a "Pro-Choice" by deciding to abstain from sex or take precautionary measures against unwanted pregnancies. Unless a woman's life is in danger or she has been raped, she already MADE a choice as far as I'm concerned and should live up to that choice, anything else is just condoning Irresponsibility!!!

Women should be able to legaly put thier babies in grocery bags and throw them in a dumpster. We don't need a bunch of criminals on our hands later on. Most blacks and hispanics can't afford abortion, so this is the only alternative.
