With all due respect this is the wrong category, BUT, I'll offer some thoughts.
Quite obviously the DEATH PENALTY and EXECUTION have not made a significant impact on the number of capital crimes committed globally, hence some re-thinking should probably take place.
Certainly violent crimes, and most especially those that end in death to a victim, become emotional issues as well as litigated, legislated issues.
The cliches about anyones execution NOT changing the history of the reason for it, are blatantly clear. DO I believe in an eye for an eye? Probably on some low level,,,but does it alter the societal conciousness? NO!
It's pretty plain and clear to me, that as a species, we aren't much farther away than an arms length from the CAVE, and likely won't evolve to that, in my lifetime.
Do I destest taking an innocent life? Sure. Do I believe that it's ever enough medicine for those left behind to salve or heal wounds? NO.

I hope to God he does.I would love to see it............But he will probably die in prison of some illness.
