What the hell that sucks. You still only make $11/hr. How is that good? Wow, an extra $40/wk. Now you can save up for that Benz you've been wanting. Take the $40 and put it in a bank account each week and watch it grow at 1.3% per year. Take the $40/wk and move into a new apartment that's $40 higher in rent. Save the $40 and do a world cruise by the year 2012. Take the $40 and jump to a new job using it to negotiate another $.50 raise. Wait, that's 5%, right? According to these other Answerers that's more than most raises in a year. Take the $40 and upgrade to 300 channel package from your cable provider. Take the $40 and get 10 more bus rides. Take the $40 and make the minimum payment on your credit card. Take the $40 and take off an extra 4 hours each week.

I don't want to rain on your parade, but it may or may not be good. On a full-time basis, you're now making the equivalent of less than $23,000 per year, so whether that's good is relative to where you are in life and how that compares with others in a similar position.
You received a 10% raise, but consider this: a person making $6.50/hr who gets a $1 raise to $7.50/hr is still not better off than you, even though they received over a 15% raise. At any rate, I'm sure your raise was well deserved, and I hope you feel good about it - but I also hope that you're young and aspire to achieve even more. Congratulations, keep up the good work, and good luck.

Yes, good. You got a 10% raise, most people get 4%. That would have been 40 cents.

Yes, that's a very good raise (10%). Most people don't even get raises large enough to keep up with cost of living increases.

Sounds great, but how does that compare to what everyone else is making (though most people probably won't tell you what they are making), and the real question is, could you make more simply going somewhere else (and enjoy the new job as much with comparable benefits, etc).
Still, it sounds very good.
