My pap was abnormal and my insurance just ran out after I got it done. My dr. said she wanted to refer me to an gyneocologist. I told her I couldn't becuz I dont have insurance anymore. I also had to stop using my birth control, the patch.

Now I have a brownish discharge.
What could this be?
What should I do?

Abnormal paps are usually from intercourse, the hormones from birth control, any feminine product can cause irritation. Just go to clinic, they may want to check for cancerous cells. Majority of time abnormal paps are false alarm.

They may want you to have a biopsy where they cut off pieces of cervice. Sounds horrible but trust me not that bad. Then they test results. If benign, no worries. If not then they will freeze and cut of any cancerous cells.

By the way this is my fiance profile. Im a woman and had this happen. I went through same procedure.

Brownish discharge may be from coming off birth control. When I stopped mine that happens everytime. Kind of like light spotting.

Good Luck.

Yes, find a free clinic. In my opinion, don't use the patch, I did for close to 4 months and had many problems with my period. I just recently switched to the pill and things are much better, I hear the shot is also good too, but I also have heard some bad things about the shot as well. With a free clinic, you will have all the same benefits as a gynecologist/Dr. and it's confidential. The brownish discharge could be your period coming early because you are off the patch. (another problem I had experienced) Use some pads or pantyliner, NO tampons, why? track to see how long this discharge is lasting for. that is easier to do when you are using pads. Good luck and I hope this helps!

Try to get some insurance, but in the meantime I wouldnt be too worried about it. I have known women who have had two abnormal pap smears, and it turns out nothing was wrong, the doctors don't have an explanation for it. I have also heard on some occassions it is pretty serious. I would try to get some kind of assistance or insurance again, and go back to the dr, even if it is for another pap smear, it would be a lot cheaper than going to a gynecologist.

i had a pap come back abnormal once, if u had sex the day before the pap that can cause it to come back abnormal, all my doctor did was was repeat the test a few days later and it came back normal, so i had to keep going back every 3 months for 1 year for a pap test, it turned out to be nothing. try looking for a number for planned parenthood or a womens health center. because you have no insurance the cost will go by your income, it could even be free.

Go to your local health department. They might want to do a colposcopy to further test your abnormality. They can also get you back on your birth control. They offer services on a sliding scale, so they will take your income into account and see how much you can afford to pay. The discharge could be from the pap test, or withdrawel from the patch. It's normal to bleed or to spot after either one.
Good luck.

The discharge is probably from coming off the patch. Have you ever heard of Planned Parenthood? They help girls and guys that don't have insurance coverage but need help in that medical field. They don't charge too much for a visit and usually you can work out a payment plan. Look them up and see if they are available in your area. Also, eat smart during this time (yogurt, fresh veggies) and try not to stress too much. It could be something very simple to fix. Good luck!

You're probably having an experience of coming off the birth control. It's not unusual to have discharge and irregular bleeding for the first 3 months or so coming off birth control pills. Work on getting yourself a job and getting yourself some coverage or try to find a free clinic in your area to where you can continue to seek treatment.

Please, please understand that having HPV would not advise you have maximum cancers. the probabilities are high particularly very small. as quickly as I had an odd pap years in the past I freaked... i did not tell all people because of the fact i replaced into beneficial it replaced into maximum cancers and that i had to 'morn' myself for somewhat. whilst i eventually broke down and informed my mom it became out the two she and my aunt had the same project... with *NO* maximum cancers ever showing up. returned as quickly as I had this the proceedures have been distinctive... i don't understand in the event that they ever particularly did an entire out 'biopsy'... they simply scraped some cells which they examined and located to be 'precancerous' (i'm guessing that equals HPV... i realize it replaced into HPV and so i'm guessing that's what they meant by means of this term). Then they did a 'freezing treatment' this is now not executed and had me get greater regular paps for the subsequent 12 months or 2. It on no account back in any respect and that's been over 10 yrs. be happy to digital mail in case you think of chatting greater could help... yet particularly that replaced into the top of the story for me and from what I hear this is *very frequently* the case. :) desire that facilitates!
