September 17, 1862, was the bloddiest battle day in American War History. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia and Mcclellan's Army of the Potomac clashed near Antietam creek. Although it was a Union victory, Mcclellan had a higher casualty count than Lee.

OK the deadliest day for Americans is Sept. 17, 1862. The battle at Antietam, with 4,300 dead American soliders in one day,(That's just Americans).
