I have information about at least five drug users and who their dealer is, where they can be found etc. Normally, I would look the other way or call it right in. However, the problem is it is my husband's family and they are using around my underage step kids. I know the police would find drugs. I even know where to tell them to look. It upsets me that they use around my step kids and even my son once. I'm at my wits end. What should I do?

I have confronted them. They don't do it when I'm around but they constantly use around my step kids and husband when I'm not there. They won't listen.

Turn them in. Go to the police and explain the situation. I turned in my own father. Drugs are unacceptable and if someone doesn't have any respect for the young children they are endangering they seriously need a wake up call!

I would most definitely call the police. I think a child's welfare is of utmost importance. Their sense of who they are is being formed and they should not be influenced by the adults and peers within their own family unit to become drug addicts. If you dont want to call the police, the other thing might be to call Child Protective Services. That would, however, perhaps involve placing the children somewhere else. The police would better know the avenue to follow where that is concerned so my vote would be the police. You could call anonymously if you were not into being identified.

Definitely call the police. No question. You might even be able to call crimestoppers and do it anonymously AND even possibly get a reward! The reward is not important, though. Doing the right thing is what is important. You owe it to those children to protect them.
P.S. Consider this, too: if you are ever present and the police bust in after finding out from someone else, you're as likely to get busted as they are. Best make the call so you can make sure you are far away when the police actually arrive.

Then go down to the police station and tell the police. Your children may be taken away because your husband is endangering the welfare of the children by bringing them around drugs. Tell your husband that it is either them or you. Leave him if he doesnt cut off contact with his family. You can lose your children!

Warn the family that they either stop the usage around the kids or they will be turned in. You don't even have to do it face to face, do it anomiously via mail or something. Normally I would say TURN THEM IN but the removal of people from their homes being thrown into jails might be just as bad on kids as the drug use (depending on the severity of the drugs/ usage/ etc. Good luck.

Maybe you can turn them in anonymously. Most cities have tip-lines for that now, & even if you don't give specifics so the family can't tell it was you, the police will be aware of the problem.

Yes, you need to go to the Police. They will protect your name and id. You can call it in by using a pay phone or a cell phone. Don't call from your own house phone. You need to do this to protect your kids and perhaps even yourself.

Tell them to stop using drugs around you kids and this is their only warning. If they fail to respect you and your kids, then it is justifiable, in my opinion, to call the police.

Have you talked to your husband about this? You could get your husband to help you make the decision about whether to call the police or get them help for their addiction. If he is unwilling or unable to help, then do what you need to do to protect you children.

Tough situation. I think you should confront them about it first and explain your feelings on the subject. If it continues to happen then go the police, can't say you didn't warn them.
