ive been thinking about this for a while, could it be that our earth is going to dry up like mars did..... dont you think that all this warming up and no more raining or snowing, ozon or things will let this poor earth dry?
do you know, all this makes me feel that, there might have been life on mars before earth and things like star gate could be true.... are these ideas to childish or do you think so too, or what?

I agree with Cosmo. Take a look at this chart:

See, every 100,000 years or so, the Earth gets warm. It just happens that right now we are living near the peak of the warming period.

Eventually, in a couple billion years, the Sun will be bigger than it is today, thus making the Earth really hot, so maybe we will have to move to Mars, and in about 4-5 billion years, it will be a red giant, which will make life impossible even on Mars. Maybe we will have to reconsider Pluto as a planet ;)

Unlike Mar's... Earth is more likely to end up like Venus, it's not going to dry up, but exactly the opposite. it's called the "Greenhouse Effect" None the less, we would eventually need to find away to escape by some means. and perhaps we are the original Martians and now we will eventually have to abandon another planet. Where do we go next? Is Venus or Mars restore-able in time? There's also Jupiter's moon that could be feasible and also Titan a moon to Saturn!

Global warming won't dry out the Earth, and anyway it's temporary---the whole global warming thing will be over in 10,000 years or so. Eventually, we'll have to settle Mars and terraform it, because the Sun is going to get more and more luminous over the next few billion years. Luckily, there's plenty of water in the solar system, easily available in the form of comets.

No, Earth will not dry up like Mars.

Mars is cold, not hot.

Global warming will not cause Earth to dry up. In fact, it should increase rain worldwide, because higher temperatures will evaporate more water from the oceans, which will cause humidity to go up worldwide, which will cause more rain. Evaporated water from the oceans is not lost to space, it just rains back down somewhere else on Earth.

earth will dry up eventually since water from our oceans is pouring down into the crust every day forever being lost to us. but that will have nothing to do with global warming and won't happen for a few billion years. right now where i am it is as wet as can be and since it is normally supposed to be only a little better than a desert here it is kind of strange.

it's all about global warming :) we'll be flooded by Oceans as they will start to grow since from north pole icebergs will melt, it'll be a total chaos. and yeah indeed in some parts from the world, the mud is dry. or the ground or however you want to spell it.
