It's not because of their emotion. It's because of the reason of crying. We are able to cry because of our physiological aspects. And why we have some physiological tools? because we must communicate with each other. animal don't communicate as complex as we do. So evolution makes us a crying animate.
for example a cow doesn't have any muscle in It's face. So It can show any emotional feelings with It's face. of course when you inject sth to a cow , cow will have pain in It's body but you can't see anything in It's face.

Well I do believe that animals have souls. Who in their right mind would say that animals don't have emotions? You should see my cat when she doesn't get her dinner on time! She is one peeved off little feline. If anyone doubts that animals are capable of emotions, they should take a look at a herd of elephants when they come across an elephant corpse. It is truly amazing the depth of sadness they feel.

There is one other documented non-human animal that cries tears in an emotional response. That is the elephant. I have also read somewhere that all of the cetaceans (aquatic mammals such as the dolphins and whales) also cry tears that are different when they are an emotional response. All I am giving you are exceptions to the perceived rule that animals don't cry. I can't give a reason. I know that animals, pets in particular, do in fact have emotions. I don't know why they don't cry tears, but they do let us know their emotional state.

Drop the Catholic prejudice and you will see that all animals express emotions. Humans have a great capacity to feel sorry for themselves - animals tend to be more pragmatic.

In a TV documentary screened a few months ago following urban foxes, there was a pair (male and female) visiting a garden where they were not welcome. The female was pregnant - she was the first to be shot. Her male companion sensed something was wrong and began wailing....is that not the same?

Honestly I don't know...that is a very good question. I think that it's because they don't feel the same way that we do. They have fear, and happiness, and sadness....they just express themselve differently. like for instance, when a cat purrs it means that they are content...but it can also mean that they are in pain. and when a cat is being friendly with you it will slant its eyes and tuck it's hands underneath itself. Or when a cat is aggrevated it will stick it's tail straight up. Animals do have feelings they j ust express themselves differently.

Animals do cry.
I have dogs that will smile too.

Elephants will cry real tears if one of them is sick or having pain such as birthing a newborn elephant.
They gather around the one that is in pain and stroke it with their trunks to comfort them.
I have seen this on documentries.

Actually I heard that animals do have emotions, in fact I also heard that cows that are about to be slaughtered cry before they are killed.

humans cry out of fear, and they cry when released from fear, and most animals don't sit around feeling afraid of anything, or sorry for themselves, unless they are directly threatened, and then they do cry (only not with tears)

wtf ernest r u a retard? haha... we did evolve from some sort of animal... but some animals cry... and the reason they cant smile is because they dont have the muscle structure we do... dogs can somewhat smile when they open their mouths n they tongues hang out but thats not really a smile... our tear ducts are linked to our brain responses and the face u make when u cry push tears out of ur tear ducts... if u notice to make urself tear a little... u can feel ur muscles tense up in that area.. so like i said most animals dont have the muscle structure we do... so they cant force tears out
