Or put slightly differently:

Johannesburg is the industrial part, friendly folk but hang onto your possessions and don't look hawkers in the eye unless you really, really want a duck puppet!

Cape Town is the smarmy part, where all the rich and fabulous go. The sea water is colder then death, some of the people are too.

Pretoria is the Capital of the Afrikaans world and the place to go for Bulls memorabilia. Lekker!

Kruger Park is the place to go and gawk at animals, watch lions sleeping on the road and elephants pooping on it.

Sun City is the place to go if you have a bit too much money. Loose it all on roulette but get a free coke!

Durban is the laid back area. Like surfers and stuff, man. Great place to get a flaming, spicy curry especially on those boiling hot days when you need it!

My Handsome (South) Africa
People out of Africa
Want to feel the mystery of Africa
My Africa is handsome
There is a strange desire within me that
Builds a sweet sense of love
For my Africa
My Africa cries of its wars ,famine
And heart tearing tragedies
These are some of the dark clouds
That hang in shame over my handsome Africa
Beyond these clouds
Stands an Africa of handsomeness and
Beauty beyond your imagination
No words can describe this beauty
It's only your eyes that can devour
This handsomeness
Of my Africa
My Handsome Africa
。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。
I hope you have some clue how some of us feel about South Africa

South Africa is a collection of African nations and land occupied by europeans. South Africa is subject to numerous lies about its history up to this point and the methods pitiful europeans used to invade, abuse, gain ill gotten land/resources and siphon money from africans.

As is usual around the colonial world, Europeans overestimate their own numbers for political reasons and underestimate those of indigenous people. Europeans account for about 8% by population of the country. Thus, overall, Africans are 87% or more (Indians are 5%) of the country yet languished for years on the remnant land set aside after policies which worked to give the best locations to europeans. That is changing slowly and with expensive remedies.

The crimes of europe to steal and keep its resources in South Africa were unprecedented.

The ghettos created by Hitler and the USA reservation lands for Indians in America were studied by Afrikaners to create the "homelands" designated for Africans by the visiting europeans, so that Afrikaners could steal land, ensure low wage laborers and consolidate their vast stolen holdings.

Perhaps 8% of a nation armed to the teeth and terrorizing the rest of the country??? Shameless. It is the core reason why the RSA (a patchwork european fiction made up of several African nations) may never become an integrated nation and europeans will ultimately be forced out of the country.

This happened no where but South Africa.

South Africa, officially the Republic of South Africa (Afrikaans: Republiek van Suid-Afrika, Zulu: iRiphabliki yaseNingizimu Afrika, Xhosa: iRiphabliki yaseMzantsi Afrika, Tsonga: Riphabliki yaAfrika Dzonga, Northern Sotho and Southern Sotho: Rephaboliki ya Afrika Borwa, Tswana: Rephaboliki ya Aforika Borwa, Ndebele: IRiphabliki yeSewula Afrika, Swati: IRiphabhulikhi yeNingizimu Afrika, Venda: Riphabuliki ya Afurika Tshipembe), is a country located at the southern tip of the African continent. It borders Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Swaziland, and Lesotho, an independent enclave surrounded by South African territory. South Africa is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations.

South Africa has experienced a different history from other nations in Africa as a result of early immigration from Europe and the strategic importance of the Cape Sea Route. European immigration started shortly after the Dutch East India Company founded a station at (what was to become) Cape Town in 1652. The closure of the Suez Canal during the Six Day War exemplifies its significance. The country's relatively developed infrastructure made its mineral wealth available and important to Western interests, particularly throughout the late nineteenth century; then, with international competition and rivalry during the Cold War. South Africa is an ethnically diverse nation with the largest white, Indian, and racially-mixed communities in Africa. Black South Africans, who speak nine officially-recognised languages and many more dialects, account for slightly less than 80% of the population.

Racial strife between the white minority and the black majority has played a large part in the country's history and politics, culminating in apartheid, which was instituted in 1948 by the National Party (although segregation existed prior to that date). The laws that defined apartheid began to be repealed or abolished by the National Party in 1990 after a long and sometimes violent struggle (including economic sanctions from the international community) by the Black majority as well as many White, Coloured, and Indian South Africans.

Two philosophies originated in South Africa: ubuntu (the belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity); and Gandhi's notion of "passive resistance" (satyagraha), developed while he lived in South Africa.[1]

Regular elections have been held for almost a century; however, the majority of black South Africans were not enfranchised until 1994. The economy of South Africa is the largest and best developed on the continent, with modern infrastructure common throughout the country. South Africa hosted and won the 1995 Rugby World Cup, becoming the rugby World Champions at the first attempt, and then followed this up by hosting and winning the much less prestigious 1996 African Cup of Nations football tournament. South Africa is often referred to as "The Rainbow Nation", a term coined by Archbishop Desmond Tutu and later adopted by then-President Nelson Mandela. President Mandela used the term "Rainbow Nation" as a metaphor to describe the country's newly-developing multicultural diversity in the wake of segregationist apartheid ideology. The country's socially progressive policies are rare in Africa. By 2007, the country had joined Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, and Canada in legalising same-sex marriage.

South Africa will be the host nation for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. It will be the first time the tournament is held in Africa. It will also host the first ever Twenty20 World Championship in September 2007.

Give full credit to Ladybird.! Her column is spot-on and well written. Couldn't do better myself.

What a broad, complex question--Well done Lady Bird,

Trouble is, we don't know the depth of answer the questioner wants. See the dad who's child asks " Where did I come from.?" Big technical answer given about sperm, eggs et al.

Child says "thats so interesting--Susie comes from Bloemfontein.

The most amazing country to live in.
Our winters are more like the rest of the worlds summer.
The sunsets are awesome.
Theres nothing quite like a hiveld thunderstorm and the smell it leaves when its over.
We always get a good laugh from our politicians and especially from the people who actually believe them.
On any given summers night theres always the smell of a braai (barbeque) in the air.
We make the worlds best tasting beer.(cold not warm)
etc,etc,etc--ad infinitum
